There's an end in sight for me. I had an appointment with a neurosurgeon today. He can fix me.  He can fix my back.  He says that whilst there are no guarantees, I should see at least a 75% improvement and could even see upwards of 95%.  Right now, with the kind of pain I've been having fo the last year and a half...I'd take a 50 or 40% improvement.  Almost anything would be better than what I'm living with now. I need to have a discectomy and spinal fusion surgery d...

I have a new friend. His name is Bob. Bob's awesome.  Bob takes care of my needs.  He doesn't complain.  He doesn't fall asleep at inopportune times. He doesn't talk much, but that's okay.  He's kind of cold, and he has a funny smell....but I can overlook that. Bob has moved in whilst my husband's gone.  He's living in my bedroom.....

So, after weeks of saying that I'm not going to this sex toy party.....I'm going. I don't want to go.  It's not my scene.  But...my friend is having the party, so it's the right thing for me to do.  I'm going to go to show my support to her...and for the free booze.  Hey, if I have to go, I can at least have a beer to take the edge off, right? I feel like a total pushover right now.  I'm not usually like this, I usually have no problems voicing my opinion (ask ...

I have a friend (yes, I do have some friends that are not internet ones) who's having a difficult time of things right now.  He's married, and he's considering leaving - for a multitude of reasons, but the one that's manifesting itself most prevalently at the moment is the lack of physical activity.  Sex, in other words. He's worried that there's something wrong with him because his wife refuses to have sex with him.  She relents about once every 6 weeks or so, and even the...

I was listening to 'Dust In The Wind' by Kansas earlier (trying to hear the chord changes and fingering patterns so I can try and play it)....and I was struck at how Buddhist-y the lyrics are. 'I close my eyes only for a moment then the moment's gone.... ...All we do crumbles to the gound though we refuse to see..... ....dust in the wind, all we are is dust in the wind'   It's true.  We humans have patted ourselves on the back and congratulated ourselves at being ...

I took my almost 13 year old daughter back to the doc again this morning. She's had this cough since February.  We saw the pediatrician when she first got it, and she got a chest x-ray...and declared that she had a viral infection and we should go home and wait it out.  She had the start of a pneumonia, but the doc didn't seem to be too concerned, so off we went. She's been coughing ever since.  She's coughed hard enough to make herself throw up at times.  I've called t...

I'm getting me some T Shirts.  One that says 'Air Force Wife: answering the call of duty so you don't have to'  and another that says 'Deployment Surivior'. I am both these things...and more. This separation has finally sunk in.  The fact that I'm not going to see his face in person until fall has hit me, and it hit me hard.  That I'm a single parent again, that I'm responsible for everyone and everything in this damn house, that I'm physically not in the greate...

I have a mole in my yard. He's burrowing all over the place.  It seems like there's a new molehill every morning.  I don't want to kill him, I just don't want him in my yard.  Unfortunately, there aren't many effective deterrents for moles. Castor oil, dried fox pee, cayenne pepper, mothballs...all old wives tales, apparently. So, the base entomologist is coming out today to set a trap for him.  I'm asking for a live trap, so they can just re-locate him.....but I th...

I've been using Kazaa for P2P tunes for a while now...over a year and a half. I've been consistently disappointed with it.  The paid version is supposed to be ad-free, but I found that to not be entirely true.  It not only slowed down my PC a noticeable amount, but I kept getting corrupt files that wouldn't play or played badly.  It really ticked me off....it wasn't the swiftest service in the world to begin with, but when I try to play a song that took me 10 mins to downlo...

My 10 year old son knows that I haven't been feeling too hot lately...heck, all the kids know.  Davey is a lot like his dad; he's not good at displaying affection.  Usually he's a straight faced kid who would rather shake hands than give someone a hug. This afternoon he came up behind me and tapped me on the shoulder. "Look, I got something for you from the yard!  I found it all by itself!" And he presents me with a red tulip that he had picked from the back yard and ...

So, I just got back from the ER.  The stone is gone down into my bladder and the pain and fever are due to a kidney infection...but check this out:  I have 2 kidney's fused together on the right side.  One is kind of a half kidney, it never really formed properly, and has probably been slightly infected forever because the ureter that comes off of it is dilated.  So, I have to go see a nephrologist now to see if that needs any additional treatment. My daughter h...
