I've been waiting a while to write this review.  I didn't quite know how to express what I felt about this book. If I had to decribe it in one word, I have to say :horrible. Not horrible because it's written badly or has a bad storyline, it just made me feel incredibly uncomfortable and evoked feelings of disgust and rage and sympathy all at the same time. 'Trouble' centers around Annette and Spicer Horrocks.  They live in London; Annette has 2 children from a previous marriag...

The military base closure and re-alignment list came out this morning. Link The base that I'm at isn't on the list...and that really didn't surpirise me.  This is a headquarters base, the lilelihood of this place being considered for closure was slim to none. The place that we just left last year though (Ellsworth AFB, SD)...that was on the list.  I'm not surprised.  I've been reading the local paper ( www.rapidcityjournal.com ) and reading about how the local communi...

...how we an be separated by thousands of miles yet still feel close?  Still feel a bond? I'm just blown away by what I feel for him sometimes.  It's just too much for me to comprehend. It's so much more than I ever expected.  I knew that I loved him from pretty early on, and I knew that I'd always love him...but I never expected that love to keep growing, to keep deepening and changing and maturing. It has so many facets to it as well.  It's a romantic love, it's a ...

There's a new machine at the BX.  It's a DVD rental machine. Using the touch screen you choose the movie that you want (I got 'Meet The Fockers' because I liked the prequel), you swipe your bank or credit card, pay the $1.53 rental fee (cheap!!), and the machine spits out your DVD from a little slot in the front.  You can return the movie the same way. So me and my friend were part of a little crowd of stay-at-home moms and wives surrounding this machine today, oohing and aaa...

Things are blooming around here.  The wet weather a few weeks ago and now the warm sunshine has put my roses into a growth spurt and now I have buds all over the place! This is the yellow rose I posted a pic of last week..as you can see that one bud is in full bloom now and there's another bud that's fixing to open:   I can't recall the name of that particular rose... This one is called 'Mr Lincoln' and it's going to be a deep red color...as you can see, it'll be in ...

I'm reading 'Eats, Soots and Leaves', the book about punctuation misuse and abuse ( I got it at the thrift store for a dime which makes me incredibly happy, but that's a whole other blog). The book mentions an 'Apostrophe Protection Society'.  At first I thought it was a joke, but I went and Googled it...and it's a real organization!   Link The above link is to the 'examples' page.....it's full of pictures of signs that people have put on display that are full of pun...

The JU bugs struck again and for some reason you can't read my last article....so I'll re-post it here. I'm reading a book that LifeHappens recommended to me when she found out I was going to certify to teach yoga after D comes home and my back is healed up.  it's called 'Jivamukti Yoga', and in it I fond the following quote: 'The color of our skin, caste, race, nationality, religion, belief ideology, status, education, culture, tradition etc. pertain only to the body and mind.  ...
