I've been waiting a while to write this review.  I didn't quite know how to express what I felt about this book.

If I had to decribe it in one word, I have to say :horrible.

Not horrible because it's written badly or has a bad storyline, it just made me feel incredibly uncomfortable and evoked feelings of disgust and rage and sympathy all at the same time.

'Trouble' centers around Annette and Spicer Horrocks.  They live in London; Annette has 2 children from a previous marriage and is pregnant with a decade-longed for child.

Annette is a writer, Spicer is incredibly cruel.  Spicer has recently started seeing a therapist, and has undergone some changes as a result of said therapy...for the worse.  He's convinced that he and Annette are doomed to fail, that she is the cause of all of his problems, that she has unresolved issues and is a completely disgusting and dysfunctional human being and that their unborn child is also destined to be an utter failure...all because of the times and dates of their births. His therapist is telling him that their 'signs' just aren't compatible, and that Annette, by accident of birth, is destined to ruin him, that she's already started doing so by killing his Inner Child.

Annette thinks he's going mad.  Annette's friend Gilda thinks that Spicer's having an affair with his therapist...and so beings a story of spite and manipulation, of betrayal and a woman who walks close to the edge of sanity and reason.

Spicer IS having an affair, but....he doesn't know it.  His therapist, whilst she may be licensed, doesn't have the best scruples or moral standards.  You'll have to read the book to see what I mean.

If you're going to read this, be prepared for the feelings it may evoke in you.  This isn't a happy, 'feel good' tale.  It's brilliantly written, yes.....but it's not going to leave you feeling all warm and fuzzy when you're done.

I didn't like it.  It upset me.  In fact, I don't like it so much that I'm willing to pass it on to anyone who thinks they'd like to read it.  Just email me, and I'll mail it out to you...
