I spent the majority of the morning in tears.  First, Dave and I went to our son's 'Drug Free' assembly.  The kids had drawn posters and written essays about why they were drug free and how they accomplished that.   There were first, second and third place winners for each grade, and an overall winner who's essay would be entered into the state level competition. Davey won first place for the 5th grade.....and he was also the overall winner.  The principal re...

I haven't been around here much the past coupla days.  I've been playing Harry Potter on my laptop.  Yeah. Me.  Playing The World Of Haprry Potter, which includes The Sorcerors Stone, Chamber Of Secrets, Prisoner Of Azkaban and the Quidditch World Cup. It's addicting, I tell ya.  I've been casting spells and tossing around cornish pixies...using rectusempra on doxies and fire crabs, I've been bitten by tentaculas, duelling with Draco (and handing him his ass on a platt...

It's that time of year again.  Time to figure out what everyone wants to be for Halloween. In our house, we don't do traditional store bought outfits.  We like to start with those as a base and embellish them, add some individuality. Over the past few years we've found out that I've got some pretty good scary make-up skills.  Last year I made us all into a family of zombies, complete with skin hanging off the sides of our faces and open wounds.  We made at least one lit...

I have a PayPal account that I use mainly for purchasing things on eBay. It's directly linked to my checking account. I haven't bought anything from eBay for a while....like a couple of months.  So, imagine my surprise when I found a receipt from PayPal in my inbox this morning.  Apparently, I had purchased a $300 watch. My heart was in my throat....$300 out of my checking account wouldn't leave me in the red, but it would mean that I wouldn't have the money to kit the kids...

I recieved this email from a very reliable friend of mine this afternoon.  I don't know anybody that fits the bill, but I was thinking that maybe some of you other JU'ers might.....and that some of you might even fit the bill yourselves!  If you are interested, or you know someone else who might be interested, drop me a line at dharmagirl69@gmail.com -you'd better put 'job offer' in the subject line so it doesn't get sent to my spam folder. Hello.   ...

Henry (my weiner dog) hasn't totally got the hang of peeing outside yet.  He's much, much better than he used to be, but he still likes to lift his leg in the kitchen and the laundry room. It pisses Dave off.  A lot.  And when Dave gets pissed off at Henry, he looks to me to carry the blame.  He told me last week that I'd better do something within a week to fix Henry's issue. I can't house break a dog in a week.  Like I said, Henry's getting there slowly but surel...

I just got off the phone with SingrDave.  He had volunteered to give me a listen to his British accent. I fully expected him to toss out a few Monty Python lines, sit back and say "well, whaddya think?" I was wrong.  This man can produce a valid North London accent at the drop of a hat, and he can continue it through an entire conversation.  At one point I could have sworn I was talking to my brother.  He doesn't just use a British accent for American terminology ei...

I had complained last week that my birth mother hadn't been in contact with me, despite having had contact info for myself AND a neutral third party. Some people said to give it some time, some said that she might not be able to handle it....there were various theories about her silence. So, I decided to go and do some digging.  I know all of her married names, so I searched for all of them in the local newspapers of the town where she lives. I was shocked at what I got.  It's...

I just got off the phone with the housing office.  It was a very frustrating conversation. The woman who answered the phone had a hispanic accent so thick that I could barely understand her.  I had to keep asking her to repeat what she was saying, and eventually asked to speak to someone else because the conversation was going nowhere.  It was obvious that English wasn't her native tongue. I had the same problem last week when I called SBC tech support.  They outsourced...

I'm a killer. I've always been a killer.  It just comes naturally to me.  It's not something that I have to work it. I'm a killer.  Of houseplants. Any plant that comes into my home has effectively been given a death sentence.  It doesn't matter what kind of plant it is, it's going to die under my care. My latest victim was a Venus Fly Trap.  It lasted longer than most, it made it almost 2 months before it withered and went black.  I've dispatches ivi...

As of tomorrow, I'm be mom to a teenager. Shea turns 13 tomorrow.  I dunno where the years went....it seems like just yesterday that I was pacing the floors at Addenbrookes hospital in Cambridge, waiting for Professor Moriquand to come out of the OR and tell me she made it through the surgery ok (she had a duplicated kidney on the right and it had a different drain rate than her main kidney...meaning that she got infected regularly and spent a lot of her first year in the hospital). ...

Dear Poison Dwarf, You have apparently lost your mind.  After what you did to me this afternoon I have come to the conclusion that you are mentally unstable and somewhat deranged. I'm not basing my opinion on just this afternoon's little incident.  I'm basing it on your consistent behaviour over the past few weeks. You seem to have my husband's role a little confused.  You're mistaking him for someone who gives a fuck about you...you seem to think that he's your substitut...

Last week, when LoneSum got his laptop, Texas Wahine said that she wondered how it would be to surf the internet whilst laying on the couch.  LoneSum said that he'd let her know this week how it was.  He's been working late every night this week, and as I got a new laptop today I figured I'd answer for him. It's great.  Right now I'm sitting in our bed, writing this.  I'm wearing my blue satin leopard print pajamas, having a cup of chamomile tea, watching the BBC in Americ...

Is it just me or are other folks having issues with JU this evening?  I keep getting a 'timeout expired' message when I try to read anything that's posted in the forums.  I couldn't even access any of LW's articles earlier; kept getting a generic error page. It's not my laptop acting goofy; the same thing happens with my desktop too. It's all very frustrating....so, is it just me or are other people seeing it too?

I'm writing this fromm the middle of my living room floor.  My new laptop is here and I'm uploading Konfabulator so I can download some widgets. I'm also checking out all the features this laptop has got that our desktop doesn't. This mouse is going to take some getting used to, as is the keyboard....but those are small things and I'm sure I'll get used to them after a few hours. I got me a Dell, dude!  How schweet is that??!! HAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!   (yeah, ...
