Here's our new house..... This is the tree that's in our front yard...the one that the poo flinging squirrels hang out in: And this is the Jeep that we got for $800....: I'll take more this weekend...but we're pretty happy with our small-town vanilla life!

" leader in the moronic movement fled England many years ago as a refugee English housewife, to escape intelligence and manners, to be with like minded idiots in America. Good riddance is what I say, the less moaning morons Britain has the better. She is a traitor to England and St George, and shames her English forbears ." Why was this necessary?  Why was Anthony R's piece about LW necessary?  I have deliberately stayed away from his blog, his articles, and his web site. I...

I'm in the market for a babydoll.  My friend's little girl is turning 5 and she wants a babydoll for her birthday. Babydolls have changed a lot recently, it seems.  When I was a kid, we had the stiff-limbed, hard plastic variety with the frizzy nylon hair, eyes that rolled shut whenever you laid them on their backs and the straight-pipe digestive tract...a hole for her mouth, and a hole in her crotch so that whatever you put in her mouth dribbled almost immediately out the othe...

I wanted to share with you the tale of a destructive dog. Chyna was a good girl....Dave's dog, an American Staffordshire terrier (for those who don't know, that's the genetic cousin of the American pitbull)..the scarediest AmStaff I ever met.  We used to live in a house that had 2 flights of stairs in it.  It took Chyna 3 months to learn how to walk those stairs. She was afraid to...she'd stand at the top, stiff legged and panting, whilst we stood at the bottom, calling and encourag...

This will be the only time I will ever do this. I'm asking you for tangible help. As you may already know, we have among us a blogger who's facing the prospect of becoming homeless.  Gideon MacLeish has a wife and 5 children (the youngest being only a couple of months old).  Gideon lost his job a little over a month ago, hasn't qualified for unemployment, probably hasn't qualified for TANF, can't make his rent this month, has no vehicle, has sold or pawned just about everything h...

As you may know, I'm in the market to become a US citizen.  I was looking at the citizenship sample test on the INS web site this evening, and I decided that just for fun I'd take it to see how much I really know.   I got most of the answers right...but it made me wonder how many born and bred American citizens would know the answers to the questions asked? Here's the link to the test - I kept going and did quite a few pages before questions got repeated.  H...

Gideon, as you may already know, is in a bit of a fix at the moment.  I'm trying to help, and I know a few others are as well. Gid himself has come up with an idea, a very good idea, and I want to give it as much publicity as I can.  Please link to this article: Link and either email gid or myself ( dharmagirl69@yahoo.com ) for a more detailed explanation.  it may seem a little surreptitious, but Gid's afraid of getting his idea snatched out from under him (and rightly so) ...

I've made this point time and again, but it keeps getting glossed over, so I'm going to officially go on record with it this time: I'm not anti-public assistance.  Far from it.  I'm an avid supporter of help being given where help is needed.  I've dontated time, money, and even the clothing off my back to help if i've thought that it's been needed.  I've never asked for recognition for it, I prefer to do my giving quietly, but today I was accused of having an attitude...

I get my new baby boy in 10 days' time.  Henry the miniature dacshund will be coming home on the 25th. I have his crate alll ready for him. I found a small piece of shearling that is the perfect size for the floor of his kennel, so he'll have somehting soft to lay on.  I've bought him toys - he has a rubber squeaky monster-looking-thing, a small squeaky teddy bear, and a bigger bear that has rope for arms and legs...good for gnawing and chewing on.  I have puppy chow,...

Blah, blah and double blah.  That's how I feel today. I have a snotty nose, clogged up sinuses, a headache, all my teeth hurt, my nose is raw from wiping, my joints hurt and all I want to do is lay around whining and feeling sorry for myself in general. I hate being sick.  It would help if I could sleep, but I can't...all I do is lay there, coughing and sniffling and generally feeling rotten.  Ok, I'm done whining now.

Jake lost his upper front tooth today.  He lost a lower one last week, so now he looks like a pro hockey player when he smiles. He's pretty proud of his gap..and school pictures are coming up at the end of the month, so we'll have a permanent record of how he looked when he lost his teeth.  I'm a bit sad about it - he's my little guy, the baby of the family, but he's growing.  He's the last kid I'll get to see lose his teeth ... it's just kind of poignant. In other news from ou...

I've decided that I'm going to apply for US citizenship.  I'm tired of being taxed like any other American, but not being able to vote.  So, I'm off to download the application forms and see how much I need to save up in order to file.  As with everything else, there are fees.  It wasn't cheap to get into this country, and it's not going to be cheap to get citizenship.  I suppose they have to get every cent out of you that they can, while they can...and I also suppos...

Or any other Best Western establishment for that matter. We got there at 2230, and we had been on the road for 10 hours at that point.  Dave and I were both tired, the kids were getting whiny, and we decided that we wanted to make to through Des Moines before we stopped.  We found a traveller's magazine with a coupon for the Best Western in it, and as we'd never stayed with them before (we've always stuck to Super 8's - we thought the BW would be a slightly 'better' motel) we decide...

I'm mean, and my kid hates me. Why, I hear you ask?  Am I forcing him to get shots?  Am I making him shave his head? Pulling his teeth out with pliers? Could I be taking all his toys and games away on a whim because I feel like it? None of the above. I'm making him put his socks and shoes on and go to school. Yes, I the meanest mom in the whole world. *sigh*...welcome to Monday morning, Karen.
