I've lived in a few places in my almost 40 years of life. I started out in Oxford, England. Then when I was 4 months old, I got moved to a wee little village about 1 miles from the city. I was there for 17 years before the wanderlust hit me and I came to the US. 4 years and many states later, I came back to the UK and met a southern Indiana boy who decided he wanted to keep me forever and have me make babies with him. He took me to South Dakota and kept me there for...

After my surgery was over this morning I called the college to see if they had my exam results from yesterday. I passed. All three parts. Now I have to get my high school transcript and two letters of recommendation together and send them in with my official application to the nursing program, wait for them to ask me to come in for an interview, hope that they like me enough to offer me a place and hope that my financial aid paperwork goes through and I can finance what I can...
It seems as if I'm only ever writing update articles lately. That gots to change. It's Sunday night, again. I have ahead of me a week I've been dreading since all plans came together and I could see it as it really was: busy. Too busy for my liking. Tomorrow morning my and a classmate are going 30 miles south of here to take an entrance exam at a college there. If we a) pass this exam, get a copy of our HS and college transcripts attached to c) our completed appli...

It's been a looong week, and it's only Wednesday. I studied Sunday afternoon for my final exam on Monday. Whilst I was studying Sunday evening, I ate a handful of raw peanuts that I'd bought on the pervious day. I loves me some peanuts; I ate them raw as a kid and had a hankering for some. Sunday night - actually 1am on Monday - I woke up with a bellyache. You know how it hurts when you get punched in the stomach; right at the solar plexus? Yeah, it was like that, b...
There was a job fair at my college today. For some reason, someone on the faculty decided that it would be a good idea to have a DJ come along and set up a disco in the cafeteria. When I mosied down there on my lunch break I heard 'you're gonna boogie-oogie-oogie til you just can't boogie no more....' and saw a bunch of people line-dancing over on the dance floor that had been set up. I joined them. I couldn't resist it; it's been years since I went out dancing and I had hon...
I have a test date for my pre-entry exam to nursing school. November 4th, at 9am. I'm going to start studying this weekend. They're not only looking at nursing aptitude, they're looking at general education too. So, I'm going to go get myself some books from the library and start refreshing my memory. It's been a looooong time since I graduated High School and I'm sure that I've forgotten some stuff! I've also been in contact with the Education office here on base a...
I'm not usually a very vivid dreamer. I dream, yes, but they're normally forgotten by the time I'm drinking my first cup of coffee. Nightmares are very uncommon - as far as I can remember, the last time I had a nightmare that caused me to wake up screaming was back when I was a teenager and still living at home. Last night, though, I had a VERY strange dream. It started out with my being Harry Potter, and I was being pursued by Voldemort. In the middle of that d...

I was talking to my tutor today about the opportunities that are available to me now that I've placed my key in the door to nursing, so to speak. I have to say that from where I stand right now, they seem endless. LPN. RN. Nurse Practitioner. Midwife. Nurse Educator. In a hospital. In a nursing home. A rehabilitation center. For a hospice. In a birthing center. In people's homes. USA. UK. Central America. South...
I talked to my mum in the UK this morning. She told me about an alarming incident that occurred on her street two nights ago. 'She lives in what the British call 'sheltered accommodation'. It's like a retirement community; people have their own homes but have call buttons in each room should they fall and a warden comes by every day or so to check on them' There's a little alleyway three houses down from her. People are supposed to use it as a shortcut to get from one street to another,...
D moved units late last year. His current unit claims to be more 'family' oriented, but what they really are, imo, is more 'party' oriented. They never miss an opportunity to have a barbecue or a get together. For instance, in the past 2 weeks there have been 4 events that have included getting together and drinking beer. Whilst none of them have been mandatory, it's been highly recommended that people show up – those of you who are prior or current military will know what that means.

Draginol recently posted an article ( http://draginol.joeuser.com/articlecomments.asp?AID=161032&s=1 ) giving those of us with MS Word 2007 instructions on how to post to JU using that program. I've written this article using Word '07, and (using Draginol's instructions) I've posted it to my blog. How cool is that?!! (Answer – VERY cool!) This is going to make my whole blogging experience MUCH easier!
