This is Marguerite Perrin.

In case you haven't seen her yet, she recently took part in a Fox TV show called 'Trading Spouses'.   The premise of this show is that 2 women who have never met before trade families with each other for a week.  To be honest, it hasn't really caught my attention....until Marguerite came along, that is.

Marguerite is a bit of a radical when it comes to her religion.  She's very into her god, is Marguerite.  Believes that the devil is out to get her and that she's a "warrior of god", ready to do battle with the "dark-side".

Funnily enough, the family that she got traded with aren't christians.  They're pagans.  The wife is a hypnotherapist, the husband is an astrologer.  They're very nice people - a little 'new age-y' perhaps, but genuinely nice folks.

During the show it was obvious that Marguerite wasn't comfortable in the other family's home.  She even tossed her cookies once, blaming her nausea on the garbage smelling.  Everyone else thought that the garbage smelled just fine (as far as garbage smelling fine can be, that is) - I think that marguerite was askeered becuase she was in the presence of what she thought were the spawn of satan.

Her reaction to her family after she got back to her own home reinforced that belief.

She had a fit.  Now, when I say 'fit' I don't mean a few angry words and slammed doors, I mean a full on, screaming, yelling tantrum.

She growled.  She screeched.  She screamed that everything in the house had been "dark-sided", that it was all tainted by the presence of a woman who was a pagan.  "she wasn't a CHRISTIAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Marguerite literally shrieked as her family stood around, stunned into silence.

"PSYCHICS AND GAR-GILLS!!!!  EVERYTHINGS BEEN TAINTED!!!!!! IT'S BEEN DARK-SIDED!!!!" she bansheed as she ripped up an envelope. (just a thought- is is possible for something to be 'dark-sided'?  The phrase reminds me of people who describe their animals as having been 'spaded'.  "Kittyt got spaded yesterday"...."my toilet was dark-sided this morning"....?)

This woman came across as deranged.  She really scared me.  It wasn't just the yelling, it was the expression of sheer hatred on her face that frightened me.

Marguerite Perrin isn't a "warrior of god". She might think that she is, but she's not.  She's doing what so many fanatically religious people do - she's using her religion to justify her actions and to accuse anyone who doesn't think the same way she does as doing the work of the devil.  She's not demonstrating Christian values when she's screaming about godlessness, she's deomonstrating hatred and contempt.  Last time I checked, Christ told us we were supposed to be tolerant and compassionate.  Apparently Marguerite's bible doesn't read like mine does, because I saw ZERO tolerance coming from her.  The supposedly 'satanic' pagan family that she was traded with would have made better Christians than Marguerite EVER will, because they were tolerant and respectful of her beliefs and philosophies.  How ironic.....if she had taken the time to see past the 'pagan' label she had stuck on them, she might have actually seen that their philosophies had a lot in common with hers.

I saw no tolerance, no compassion, no love.  Just sheer hatred, and to be honest, fear.  She was terrified of those people and their way of life.  She didn't even want to hear about their way of life - they didn't think like her, and that's all she needed to know.  To have gone any further would, have her, been dabbling with the devil.

I have Marguerite's phone number.  I found it on a message board discussing wether or not she's psychotic and in dire need of some mental health assistance and treatment.  Someone who had grown up in a house with a mother much like Marguerite (Carrie, perhaps?) and who was so traumatized by the experience that they needed therapy as an adult took it upon themselves to go 411 her name and post her telephone number for everyone to see.  I doubted that said numbers were still in service, so I called her business...,and sure enough, it was her.  She hasn't felt the need to change her numbers...then again, perhaps nobody has called her.  Perhaps they're all too scared of her....perhaps seeing her on TV had such a detrimental effect on them that they don't think they can handle her in any greater proximity.

I don't blame them at all.  She's crazy - crazy, masquerading as uber-religious.

(you can see the video here: http://www.fox.com/tradingspouses/  - but be warned, it's pretty disturbing)

That's some scary stuff, Dharma. Seriously. Of course, I have to wonder what kind of stuff fox edited out, but even still, Scary.

On a bit of an ironic note, when I clicked on the link, they had an ad for zombie hordes on the top right corner!

I saw this earlier and thought it scary as well. Manopeace posted it here Link earlier today. Yes, quite the display that was.

It WAS pretty spectacular...and from what I've seen of episode 2 (they just couldn't squeeze all of Marguerite's insanity into a single episode) it only gets better.  Or worse, whichever way you want to look at it.

Bummer, I hope he doesn't think I stole his blog idea.

She scares me more than any zombie or vampire or horror movie does...because she's REAL and she takes herself seriously.  To her, there's nothing wrong with behaving that way....and even worse, she's got kids and a grandchild that she's exposing to that kind of craziness.  Those poor kids....

Her husband, by the way, ought to grow a set of cohones and tell her to STFU every so often.  Seems to me like nobody in that house is telling her that she's crazy or out of control....so it's just escalating.

I wonder where it will all end....and I also wonder if CPS will end up paying her a visit.  People have had their kids taken away for less than what marguerite's done on national TV....

OMG (that now stands for Oh Marguerites God), my sister told me about this but I didn't see it. I just clicked the link and it was scary. The scariest thing is that she thinks that how she is acting is godly. I hope her pastor suggests some counseling.

Yeah, that killed me too.  I think counselling is VERY in order.  Not just pastoal counselling either - with a proper shrink and with medications and maybe even time in a secure psychiatric unit.

Dharma - do you want to strap her in the strait jacket yourself? It might have to be custom made. You could then whisper in her ear that it's been dark sided - scene fades to black.

Locamama...

I never knew you had such a talent for poetic justice!

The really sad thing about this is Fox knows she's probably mentally ill and will edit out anything that shows people she is nuts. Not the drama, but the calm crazy moments she is bound to have.

I believe in the Devil, and I believe he has legions of demons to do his bidding. That scares me to an extent. Just knowing something supernatural HATES me is not a pleasant thought. But I don't think people are the devil, and its a shame that this will be used against all Christians everywhere...kinda like Benny Hinn and Tammy Faye Baker.....

Oh well it makes for good entertainment I guess.

What in the world did you say to her when you called her?

Right, reality tv. I believe in it's truth like I believe in pro-wrestling.

Come on, don't you know that us christians are all a bunch of eeeeevil (muhahahahahah) raving bigots? We've been portrayed as looney tunes by mass media, it must be true.

The gapped tooth was a nice touch.

That's because the evil got into her teeth. Itsy bitsy evil monsters. Alright, so who says bacteria can't be evil? When we rule the earth (openly, don't you know we already rule it secretly?) everyone will be on the "Christian dental plan."

I've been inspired to write an article on the subject here. Link

Coincidentally, a symptom of schizophernia (I think, Psych 101 was a while ago) was believing to be some kind of warrior of god, and also that $SOMEONE was out to get you.

Now, if she was having conversations with the LAWD AWMIGHTY, then she should really get some help.

OMG... Im a thinkin shes a in need of a good ole exorcism... or enema one or the other.

If you wanna know what someone who is possessed looks and sounds like.. She is it!..

Thanks for posting this D.. I cant wait to see this on tele if we ever get it.. It reminds me of Joan Crawford with the Wire Hangers! I reckon Little Britain could do a fantastic rendition of Good ole Warrior Margie!

Good thread,
I dont watch the show myself, but I saw the previews for it and after a while...I just hit mute. It made me uncomfy seeing her act like that. I kept thinking to myself that...that is how some people see Christians and she just seemed so far out of reality that she was taking it to extreme.

Not really. If you are a Christian and it is your goal to go and spread the message of Christ, then you could be considered a Warrier of God. There are some bike groups out there like "Army of the Lord", "soldiers for jesus" etc... Its not bad to be a warrier for God...but to take it to the extreme like she did is....just plain wack.
