The case that I helped work on over at the legal office comes to trial next week.
Actually, it's not really a trial. There's a pre-trial agreement - the defendant pled guilty to all charges so it's just a matter of the judge reviewing the evidence and deciding what the sentence will be. I'm going to attend both days - I had thought that I might have to testify, but because there's a PTA (Pre Trial Agreement) I won't have to take the stand.
After the sentence has been announced, the defendant will be considered 'adjudged' and I can take the gag off and talk about the details. It's somewhat contraversial because of the defendant's rank, the position he occupied before he was caught, and the amount of money involved.
Dave's never had a former E-9 in his jail before. It's going to be really quite interesting to see what happens......
