How low can you get?

During my stints working for military attorneys and my husband's job as both detective and NCOIC of two jails, I've heard of and dealt with child abuse cases. All of them made me ill. I was stunned at the depravity of some of the pedophiles, at the sheer selfishness of their actions. I thought that I had seen some of the worst behaviour mankind had to offer in their actions.

That link will take you to a story from The Independent, a reputable Bristish newspaper. I first read about the story in The Sun, and you can't always believe what The Sun reports....so I went a verified it, hoping to God that it wouldn't be true and that it was just another example of the Sun stretching the truth.

I was disappointed to find that it WAS true.

The story is about a couple who are being sent to prison for raping and 12 week old baby. Yes, you read that right. 12 WEEKS. An INFANT. And, not only did they rape her, they filmed it and took photographs of it too.

I thought I had seen some really low behaviour until I saw this. I really don't think you can get much lower than that. A baby. A baby who isn't even sitting up on her own yet, who's still drinking from a bottle and is completely dependent on other people for everything. She was totally defenceless, and these asshole took advantages of that. But you know what really makes me sick? A woman assisted that man who did the raping. How on earth a woman, who is supposed to have maternal instincts, do that to a helpless infant????

How low can people get? Obviously much lower than I had originally thought.

12 weeks? What in god's name could you get out of an infant? That is just so sick. You are right, I cannot imagine how low some people can go. I would never have even dreamed it possible! I dont know how British prisons are, but those jerks would never make it out alive in most US prisons unless they spent the time in Solitary!

That is just so sick! Unimaginably so!

I'll tell you who I am to judge....a normal person, and more importantly, a MOTHER. If someone ever did that to my baby, I'd be serving time on death row because I'd kill them. Slowly. And painfully.

What in god's name could you get out of an infant?

I honestly don't know. When I think about it....about a chubbly little face and tiny baby hands and feet, big innocent eyes......it makes me nauseated. Literally.

They're the same. These people are going to have to be segregated if they want to make it more than a few days.

My personal belief is that there is a special section of Hell set aside for people who perpetrate that kind of act. I don't know if it is true, but it makes me feel better to believe that they will suffer for more than the time they have left on this planet.

I'm sickened because that is all he is getting.

My internet connection failed before I could read the link and at first I thought it was the parents.....and I was horrified. It's not much better knowing that it was people entrusted to watch a baby... I feel for the mother, I can't imagine how hard that could possibly be, finding out that the people you trusted are abusing your child.

These aren't people, they're an insult to the human race. I don't believe in capital punishment but when I read about incidents such as these, I can understand why some people are such strong advocates for it.

From what I read, she was hardly a woman but more a foolish, misguided girl. Still, it does make you wonder.

Oh my gosh, I am sick and horrified. Reading that article made me cry. It is terrifying to think there are people that would do these things. I swear to God, if anyone ever lay an inappropriate hand near my daughter, or ever had a nasty thought cross their mind, they would pay.

Makes me want to hold my baby tight and never let go.

Thank god Britain has the sense to impose life sentences for crimes like (I would go with death personally)... if this had taken place in New England they likely would have gotten off with 6 months and a 2 year parole!
