I was talking to someone this morning about the wingman program that the military practices.

Basically, each individual is supposed to be a wingman for someone esle.  They're supposed to watch out for them, take note of any unusual behaviour or issues that the person may be facing.  Bascially, they're supposed to have the other person's back.

It got me thinking about who my wingman is.  I guess that I have a few people who I consider wingmen - Dave being the primary, but Little Whip, Texas Wahine and my friend down the street are all wingmen in their own way too.

In turn, I'm wingman for them - and other people too.  In fact, I consider myself a wingman for any military spouse.  Because I understand what they're going through...I have a pretty good idea of what they need and when they need it because I've been through it myself and I know what I needed at the time.

So, my sisters-in-arms ......it may not mean much to you, but know that I got your backs.  I'm your wingman.  All I ask is that you consider yourself someone else's wingman.

Who do YOU consider to be YOUR wingman?

Goose is definately my wingman.

No seriously. I would have said my friend Alisha but I haven't been seeing as much of her lately. Probably my friend Holly. Even though she lives out of state, I know I can call her anytime and she is there for me.

Goose is definately my wingman

He was HOT in that movie.  I'd have gladly had him as MY wingman too.

That's the kind of thing I'm talking about.  I know that i can call my wingman whenever I need to, and they'll be thee for me.  I know too that anyone else is welcome to call me anytime and I'll be there for them.

My wife for sure.

Other than that, I'm not sure. I would probably count my brother as one. Hmmm, making me think. . .

My girlfriend at the time insisted on going back to that movie, just to watch Val Kilmer.

Of course, my "wingman" is my wife. I don't have a clue without her; I'm a sad and sorry wreck when she's gone. I have gotten very accustomed to her taking good care of me while I am out hunting and gathering, bringing home the bacon, hacking and slashing, etc.

She is awesome. Truly special. I am excited to say that next month will be twelve years of wedded frustration... I mean, bliss.

Good!  You of all people need one.  You have an incredibly heavy schedule and a high stress job....so having a wingman for you is a must.

The problem that having your spouse as your solitary wingman is that there are sometimes issues at home that your spouse is a part of.  That's why it's better to have another person as a secondary wingman.

Are you SURE you're not related to my husband?  Because that's almost verbatim what he said.

Ditto for you what I said to DG.  I know that it's unlikely that issues WILL arise at home, but you never can tell...and it's helpful to have someone outside of your marriage keeping and eye on you.

hehehe..yeah, Henry knows what's up with me too. He's pretty intuitive.

Heh, just make sure whoever you volunteer to be wingman (wingwoman?) to is amenable to the idea, some folks are known to cut your head off if you try to look out for them.

Yeah, I know.  With those kind of people, I'm a silent wingman.  I got their back, they just don't know about it.

I once called her brother on an issue.  But before I married, it was my sister.  I wrote about her 6 weeks ago.

Nobody. I'm a maverick. I fly solo, baby. Basically, I trust my back to nobody but me. And who better?

HW first, but seing as he is here less than half the time.....my friend Tresa and I have each others backs. The year HW was in korea, he knew to call me at her house if I didn't pick up at home....heck I slept at her house at least 2 or 3 times a week. Our husbands were gone so we really leaned on each other. now that our husbands are home, we don't see each other as much, but we know that no matter what we are " battle buddies"
