Life in South Dakota

Today it snowed. And snowed...and..well, you get the point.

Then the wind picked up and blew not only the falling snow around but the snow that was already on the ground around too, resulting in a white-out situation. I can't see the cars parked across the street. I can't see my own trashcan..!

So, we've all been cooped up in the house together....all day......and I think that I am losing my sanity. My total repertoire of words today has been:

"stop it"
"leave your brother alone"
"put that back, it's not yours"
"no hitting"
"leave me alone, I'm trying to pee"
no throwing balls in the house"
"be quiet and sit down"
"STOP IT!!!!!!!"

The boys got into a fist fight this afternoon over whether zero was a number, and if it was, was it an odd or even number.

Then, about 2pm, came the inevitable cry of:
"I'm bored! There's nothing to do!"

They have cable TV with 70 + channels, a PS1, PS2, Gamecube, Gameboy, DVD's, VHS movies, board games out the wazoo that they got for Christmas, books, Legos, transformers, a whole foot locker full of assorted toys and things to do....but they're bored.

They ate me out of house and home today as well...I think that was because they were bored. Nothing else to do, so hey, let's eat!!

I'm sitting writing this with a kid dancing behind me saying "Are you done yet? Are you done yet?", listening to the wind howl outside the dining room window...and my friend Rob just IM'd me to let me know that the schools in our area will be starting 2 hours late tomorrow......

NO!!!!!!!!!! NO!!!!!!!!!! (sticks fingers in ears) Lalalalalala...I'm not listening!!!

I'm going to be in-fucking-sane by then.......

Hmm...well looks like we (MN) are going to get hit this week...I was really starting to enjoy the mild temps....people probably think we're crazy when it got to 45 today I drove with my windows down the whole time. I think I've missed an entire season of snowboarding though....hmm, maybe a sign that I'm getting old, or that I'm poor........likely a combination of both.

It's always this way up here. I've lived here for 8 years (this year will be my last, hooray!!!) and every year we'll get a spell of mild temps for about a week, followed by a mondo storm that shuts down schools and keeps folks off the roads.

I've sat on my deck in 55 degree weather wearing a bikini top and shorts, watching the snow slowly melt in the backyard, so I get what you're saying about the car windows!

Old? I dunno about that..how old are you?
