I got a new mountain bike today.

My doctor said that I'm allowed to ride again...and seeing as we're down to one vehicle I figured that riding would not only be good for me but would provide us with an alternative means of transportation too.  Driving hurts me....bike riding doesn't.

So, Dave and I chose a 24" (yes, I'm short) 15 speed.  I got a helmet, a lock, and a basket for the front so that I can make runs to the store and have somewhere to stash my purchases, and also so that I've got somewhere to stow my notary kit on the way to work.

As it happens, Henry fits in the basket pretty good too.  He and I went for a ride down the street earlier, and he was really good about sitting still whilst we pedaled along.  I'm going to devise a 'safety belt' system for him so that he's secure in there and won't be able to leap out and chase passing squirrels - I don't think that he'd try and get out, but you never know.  I don't think that anyone makes doggy helets, or else I'd get him one of those!

I'm looking forward to getting out and about on my bike!

I was mistaken.  There ARE such things as doggy helmets:

And they're under $30!

Yeah, but they look really silly!!!

True, but the DOG doesn't know that.

I know, but...I can just see Henry wearing one.  I could knit him a sweater with a skull and crossbones on the back and make him into a biker dog....

True, but the DOG doesn't know that.

Nope.  All he cares about is his nose in the breeze.

Way to go Dharma! and a biker dog too ,, that is so cute! and it makes sense to ride a bike, economically, and
you'll get yourself in even better shape......like you need to!

I want to get a bike like Mason has, next spring. Figure by then I should be able to handle full revolutions with the knee, well
I'm almost there now, just can't ride a bike in Mn. in winter! I think this bike thing is catching on..
