I finished Little Whip's wolf scarf yesterday. All I have to is it attach it's 'teeth' and embroider it's snout on and it'll be ready to mail off to her.
It was surprisingly quick to knit up. I started it Saturday evening, had the tail finished Saturday night before I went to bed, and finished the rest of it Sunday afternoon. It's very soft and supple...I'm really very happy with the results (I hope that LW feels the same way!).
This afternoon I made a start on a fox one for my daughter, and I also dug out some green yarn to create an iguana one for our Jake. The fox one is going to be the same basic pattern as the wolf, but I'm going to tweak the pattern a bit for the iguana and make his tail not quite so fat. It's just a matter of spacing the increase stitches out over a few more rows, and that's really very simple.
When I was at the store yesterday afternoon I caught sight of some new scarves and hats that they just got in. I was shocked not so much at the price, but at the quality...they were really poorly made and finished. I can come up with something MUCH nicer for less than what these ones were priced at, and all of my designs are unique. You're not going to be able to find something like the ones I make in the BX or Wally World, nor are you going to see anyone else wearing the exact same hat or scarf as you like you would if you got a scarf from 'The Crap' or 'Adenoid-y and Felch'. Now if I could just sell other people on that idea, I might be able to make some money from this hobby of mine! (LOL)
After I'm done with this fox and lizard, I'm going to tackle this:
I'm also going to create this little beauty to co-ordinate with the hat:
I like to have a bigger, no-brainer project on the go, so over the weekend I went and got the yarn to make this:
I LOVE that sweater. The bell sleeves, the way it's shaped at the waist....it's a big, comfy, girly sweater. The yarn I got for it is a gorgeous milk chocolate color, slightly textured and soft as hell. I'm actually looking forward to cooler weather so I can sport that baby out and about! The pattern is, again, very simple. It's the kind of thing that I can knit a few rows on, put it down, come back to a few days later and be able to figure out where I'm at and what I need to do without counting rows and stitches and constantly referring to a pattern. Like I said, it's a no-brainer.
Shea's fox scarf is calling me....so it's back to the needles I go.
