Is my big day.  The day that will change my life and my body forever.

July 22nd is the day that I get my back fixed.  Dr Striegel (who's quite a hottie, btw) said he's going to make an incision slightly to the left of my belly button, starting at my navel and running down to my pubic bone (on me, that's about 6 or 7 inches; I have a long torso).  He's making it vertically so he won't have to cut through the muscles...he'll just move them out of the way.

July 22nd. A little over three weeks away.  Three weeks...enough time to get my house and yard squared away.  Enough time to move everything in the kitchen to shelves that are waist level or higher.  Enough time to clean under all the beds and in the corners of closets and cabinets.  Enough time to give the floors a waxing that will last them a month or so.

Enough time to get D home.  That's the REALLY important part.

I initiated a Red Cross message about an hour ago, and I notified D's supervisor and commander here.  They've got someone all lined up, ready to go take D's place.   All they need is the Red Cross notification, and they can start booking flights.

My husband is coming home, and I'm getting fixed.  Wow....this is like all my dreams come true!

I am so happy for you. Having a set date makes the wait a million times easier to deal with. I hope that your sweetie makes it home for as long as possible! Good luck and we are praying for you!

He's coming home for good.  They had discussed just sending him home for 2 weeks E leave, but my doctor nixed that idea and said that the recovery period was going to be extended so he'd be needed for more than 2 weeks.  So, the commander made a decision to bring him home early from this deployment and keep him home.  By the time he gets back he'll have completed 120 out of the projected 180 days, so he'll get credit for the tour.  Thank you for the prayers....I need all the help I can get!

I hope everything goes well

Me too!  I think that it will....

Good luck and I'm glad you finally have a set date. And D is coming home...yeah....!!!

I'm glad about getting a date too.  it gives me something concrete to work around/towards.

Great news! And I'm so glad to see that you have such a positive attitude about it!

Thank you!  I thought about all the things that I can't do now as opposed to all the things that I'll be able to do once it's over, and that really helped.  D sent me an email earlier after I told him that we had a date scheduled, and he said that he's really excited and looking forward to being able to do things together next spring.

I'm really, really happy.  This is some fan-freakin'-tastic news!
