They think that's going to make me want to eat at Quizno's?
...disturbing ad....

Will someone who's seen the commercial for Quizno's subs please tell me what those things are? They look like deceased hamsters....and while i'm starting to find them kind of endearing, at first I found them quite disturbing.
Not the kind of thing that's going to make me want to run out to the nearest Quizno's and buy food......

I think that they are some kind of dessicated rodent....I'm not really sure. Maybe that is where they get their acceptable amount of rat feces.
They do have good subs, though

You like the Arby's oven mitt better? That guy is a dork. If I ran across him in the streets I'd kick him in the nutz.
out.

I think I would take an oven mitten over a rat
They are both bad ideas in my book....

They're known as the Spongmonkeys; their original incarnation is over a year old (January 2003) and can be found here:

Notice that they've taken their original "theme" song and simply Quiznofied it for television.

No, i don't like the Arby's Ovenmitt...i think he's an annoying jackass too. The Quizno's dudes just freaked me a little at first, with the eyes and teeth and the dead-rodent bodies...but now i'm growing to like them...i've been trying to sing the commercial tunes but have only succeeded in making myself hoarse and freaking out my cats (they run up to me, eyes all wide, tails all brushy and swat at me until i stop - kinda cute, actually).

I like the Quizno's ad campaign. Occasionally I get that song running through my head.
I think that I went to Quizno's once since that campaign started. It must be good for something...
Arby's oven mitt was a little off-putting at first, but somehow I don't mind that one either. The key to that campaign is not to run the same ad too often, because each one gets old fast.

My kids are totally freaked out by the Quiznos commercials. My 7yr old keeps asking, "What are those things?" I couldn't tell him. They looked like raw chicken with faces. Freaky!

Or watch less TV hey ?

Mine have been asking the same questions, and I can't answer either.
The marketing strategy is working though, 'cos we're all talking about them (and Quizno's) here.

I don't really care for those commercials either. I prefer their old ones. Still, they're no worse than those Derweinerschnitzel (don't know how to spell it and don't want to look) ones with that living hot dog, or those old M&M ones where people would take a chunk out of them. Eating stuff that's moving and talking makes me gag.

They look like some kind of hamster to me, but what do I know?
We've actually been talking about this quite a lot around here recently, as I've taken to screeching "They got a pepper bar!!" at inappropriate moments. (As if there is an appropriate moment for screeching "They got a pepper bar!!") This morning someone was talking about how good the sandwiches were going to be at lunch. That's my cue: "We love the suuuuuubs! 'cause they are goooood to us!"
I'm like you, though. At first I thought "What the *** is this?!?!" Now I am beginning to think of them as a brilliant take-off on the alternative band scene. Whatever. I like the little suckers.
P.S. I do not try this in front of the cat; he's freaky enough already.

Smartaz, I like you.
I do the same thing....start in with the song for no reason and piss those around me off.
