Here at JU we are incredibly fortunate to have amongst us some real American heros.  Men and women who give of themselves every day to protect this great nation.  This blog is a tribute to them and what they do.

Hyperborean Wanderer Link and Life Happens Link (I'm going to include their S.O's, they support this country as well): HW is in Iraq right now.  His blog has some pretty graphic accounts of life over there...including car bombings and shootings.  LH, his adorable wife, is making it on her own with a 2 year old and a newborn - a feat in an of itself, without having to worry about your husband's well being every day.  Much respect should be offered to these two; to me they epitomize what a military family should be.

Greywar Link and his lovely Estrogen Lass:  A dual military couple.  Greywar's heading out to Iraq in a couple of weeks, leaving his lass behind.  Grey, know that our thoughts will be with me, and that JU has oficically 'adopted' you and your platoon...so expect some care packages to be heading your way!  Lass....we're here for you if you need us.  I know that we don't know you all that well, but hopefully that will change.  Stop by and let us know how you're doing every once in a while, please?

SPC Nobody Special Link and Lady CleveLink :  What can I say about these two? There aren't words enough to do them justice. They're kind, caring, devoted to one another...another fine example of a military family.

Chiprj Link and his gorgeous wife:  Chip's an awesome dude, and his wife will soon be joining the ranks of American citizens...and if we can perduade her, of JU too!  Again, another fine example of a military couple.

Pseudosoldier Link and his SO:  Pseudo plays his cards pretty close to his chest and we haven't heard much about his significant other...except that she's there, and she plays a major role in his life.  Pseudo has had quite an impact on me at various points in my blogging career, and whilst he's been a little scarce of late he is still around.....probably with a Old Crow and diet Dr Pepper in his hand!

SSgt Geezer Link :  Geezer has the advantage of having served in 2 branches of service: the Marines and well as the Army. He's seen some of his friends die at the hands of terrorists....read his blog for more details.  Much love and respect goes out to you, Geez.  You totally deserve it for the sacrifices you've made (and continue to make)

Imajinit Link :  MJ and I have had our differences (and still have some) but I respect the hell out of him for doing what he does.  He's another dual service enlistee. He was in the Army for a few years before seeing the light and coming over to the wing-nut side of the house (that's the Air Force for those who didn't know). Imajinit just got promoted to E-6 a month or so ago...congrats for that!

AdrianThePatriot  Link and Texas WahineLink : Adrian is currently in parts unknown, serving in the US Army.  Wahine is in Texas with their  two adorable little boys, spending the holidays with family, but they're stationed in Hawaii.....these two have articles in their blogs that show how hard military life can be on families.  It's not all sunshine and roses; the separations can really take a toll.  Much love goes out to you two....and we are all praying to every deity we can think of for Adrian's safe return and a wonderful reunion for you both.

Talisein: I don't know him, but I have a lot of respect for him.  He's currently serving in Iraq too, taking fire on a regular basis....but still finds the time to throw out an article here and there.

Lonesome Traveler:  my significant other.  A straight shooter, that's for sure....and an awesome guy (I know I'm biased, but when you get to know him I think you'll agree).  Scheduled to deploy to the Middle East in spring of '05 - despite having just come off a year long remote assignment in August '04.  Gets promoted to E-6 on Saturday, and is trying hard not to show how happy he is about it.  I love you, D.  You're a wonderful example of what a professional military cop and NCO should be....and you're a great dad and wonderful husband to boot.

Thank you, everyone, for everything that you do for this great country of ours.  Thank you for giving your time, thank you for putting yourselves in harms way so the the rest of us can sleep safely at night.  Thank you for the sacrifices you make on a daily basis.....thank you, ad infinitum.

Excellent article Karen!  Happy New Year to you and your family and all the heros listed above  I feel so very fortunate to be on here at JU, able to meet people who are doing the hard and horrible work that affords my family a life the rest of the world couldn't even dream of.  Thanks so very much to you all!!!!
