I just scored me a sweet ass T shirt on eBay.  It looks like this:

Hey, if Madonna can wear 'Mary is my homegirl' and 'Kabbalists do it better' T's then I can sport a 'Buddha is my homeboy'....right?

I had stopped telling people about my chosen path.  I had some negative reactions at one point, and I stopped telling people because I felt that it made them uncomfortable.

Then I thought about it....and thought about it some more....and decided I'm not going to hide who I am and what I'm about.  I'm not going to go beating people about the head with it, but I'm not going to cloak it or sugar it to make it easier for people to swallow either.

I am me.  I can't be anyone else.  I'm tired of trying to be something, someone that I'm not.  So, I'm going to start telling people if they ask.

And if they don't, I'll just let my shirt do the talking.

Oh no, your going to be exposing others to your belief system by wearing this shirt, whatever is the world coming too. But all sarcasm aside, I think it's a nice shirt, have fun wearing it

There's one like that, only with Jesus. I think it has the thumbs-up Jesus from Dogma on it, I'm not sure.

You still are, I think.  If only you'd write more, I'd be able to tell for sure....

Love it!!!

Dharma,

Where can I get one? Buddha is also my 'homeboy' although in Australia, we'd say 'mate'.

I had stopped telling people about my chosen path. I had some negative reactions at one point, and I stopped telling people because I felt that it made them uncomfortable.

It is truly a shame that you had to suffer this as it is meant you couldn't be true to yourself. I'm glad you've seen the light, though. I'm sure those people would have no hesitation trying to push their beliefs on you.

Cheers,

Maso

Ebay.  If you email me (dharmagirl69@yahoo.com)  I'll send you the link.  You're Buddhist, Dyna?  How cool!  I thought I was the only one...there was a dude named '8gates' that blogged here last year, and a few months ago we had a Zen monk that wrote a couple of articles...but apart from those 2 I always thought I was the only one!

That's how the conversation came about.  The ladies in question asked which church i belonged to and were trying to persuade me to come to theirs...I said I wasn't Christian, I was Buddhist, but that I'd go and listen to their sermon anyway if they'd like for me too. They declined, and ever since have been dropping leaflets advertising Christianity and God in general off at my house.

I wonder how they'd feel if I took copies of sutras to their abodes and asked them to read them?

Dharma,

As I said in my email, I'm not a practising Buddhist, but the philosophies are something I really believe and try to practise everyday.

I had a discussion with my mother recently, who is a devote Roman Catholic, and I spoke to about the ideas of mindfulness and impermanence. While her Catholic upbringing is hard for her to shake, she liked the idea of accepting life AND death as part of the natural progression of things. This is the kind of discourse I enjoy having with others. Open minded, honest and friendly without necessarily being in agreeance with each other.

I think if they read the sutras, they would find them to be at least as enlightening as any of the gospels or psalms. The biggest hurdle, of course, is actually getting them to read them and not throw them straight in the rubbish.

One of my NY resolutions is to look into Buddhism. I gave my mother "An Open Heart" by the current Dalai Lama for Christmas. I thought, what better way to celebrate a Christioan holiday than to spread Buddhism?

Me too!  It's very hard to come by sometimes....anytime you want to chat about it, let me know!

If you need any suggestions for reading materials, please let me know!

Dharma,

thanks so much again. As I said in a response to something Island Girl wrote, I don't necessarily going looking for those who agree with me. As she pointed out, quite rightly, it is always good to find those who DO agree with one's own opinions because it gives weight to personal beliefs.

I am truly thankful for your offer and will most certainly take you up on it. Sleep well,

Cheers,

Cool.. It shows what you like without being in your face about it. I like it.

Maybe I should buy "I'm godless" shirt.

Maybe I should create a blog to explain my own views. It's pretty unusual.
