I like Thanksgiving.  We don't celebrate Thanksgiving in England, so the holiday is still somewhat of a novelty to me.  I take the holiday somewhat seriously, and in that spirit I've made a list of the things I'm thankful for.

I'm thankful that I'm not alone for this holiday.  I spent last Thanksgiving separated from the ones I love the most, and it was, to be blunt, a sucky holiday.  So, I'm thankful that my husband is home this year (he has to work, but that's okay, we can at least have a meal together)...and my heart goes out to those military families who are separated from those they love.

I'm thankful I'm healthy.  The day after Thanksgiving last year I ended up in the ER, passing a nice sized kidney stone.  So far this year, things are looking pretty rosy for me, health wise.

I'm thankful I'm here, and I'm still in one piece.

I'm thankful that we have a house to live in, clothes to wear, and food to eat...because there are many in this great nation who don't have any of those things.

I'm thankful that I have had the opportunity to make so many good friends here, on this site.

I'm thankful for Brad's hard work and expertise in producing and maintaining this site.....so that I had the opportunity to meet so many fabulous people here!

I'm thankful that I live in a country where I am free to express my opinion without fear, and where I am free to practice the religion and faith of my choice.

I'm thankful for the men and women of the US military, who give of themselves so that I can sleep safely at night, and for their families, who play just as large a part in this war.  Your sacrifices do not go un-noticed, and will not be soon forgotten....

...and finally, I am thankful for you, Joe Users.  You have been my friends, my confidantes.....you have helped me up when I have fallen, and you have given me strength when i felt like I had none left.  You are an amazing bunch of people...and you too, will not be soon forgotten.

That's weird, the night of Thanksgiving last year I was in the ER for the same reason--only I ended up having to have surgery...not fun.

Have a wonderful thanksgiving Dharma--have some turkey for me. I'll be in England and I don't think I'll find anyone celebrating Turkey day.

That's weird, the night of Thanksgiving last year I was in the ER for the same reason--only I ended up having to have surgery...not fun.

I had to fight to go home....the kids were at my friend's house and I didn't have anyone to watch them overnight, so I HAD to go home.  They made me promise to come back if I hadn't passed it within 24 hours...which I did.  Hurts like hell, doesn't it?  To me, it was worse than giving birth.  Not something I want to do again.

Unbelievably--and the surgery was no cake walk either--I got sent home on Thanksgiving night. Then two days later, my work sent me back to the ER and I was finally able to see a kidney specialist--I had to wait over a week for the surgery--it was, hands down, the most painful experience of my life--I was completely incapacitated. I live in fear of a repeat.

you'll be in England??

I'm heading to Liverpool for a couple of days. Email me with your mailing address and I'll send you some fresh cadbury's--what's your favorite? The first thing I'm going to do when I get off the plane is get an Orange Fanta and Cadbury whole nut...then I will be in heaven!

I live in fear of a repeat.

Me too.  I keep myself hydrated better now, and I've cut down on the caffiene dramatically. Did they scope you to get it out? And where di your pain start?  Mine started in my belly...I thought I might have an ovarian cyst because it was the same kind of pain, but it was higher up...then it started in my back (flank) as well, and I knew I had to go get some help.

Email me with your mailing address and I'll send you some fresh cadbury's--what's your favorite?

Aww, that's very nice of you!  It's fruit and nut...I'll send off my mailing address in a sec.  Thank you so much!!

And where did your pain start?

Same as you--I thought it was just regular cramps for about a week until it really came out in full force! To make the situtation even worse, I was on my second date with this guy and he had to take me to the ER and sit around all night while they poked and prodded me to figure out what was wrong--how terribly romantic!

I am thankful for many things this year, but here are a few:

-Both my husband and I are employed at jobs that we like.
-I have a comfortable home and I can pay my bills.
-I have a small yet loving family.  (Pretty much lost contact/connection with all but my immediate family, and I only have one sister, so it's small)
-I have a new niece this year.
-I don't have any life threatening illnesses, and I'm still completely mobile (though I feel like an 80 year old granny some days)
-My Grandma Marshall is still around to see another Thanksgiving
-My daughter tells me that she loves me every day.
