I wrote an article about people having nasty houses (and I mean filthy houses):Link

It got me thinking about my pet peeves around the house are.

I don't like a dirty tub.  I have to take a bath in a clean tub...and I get so paranoid about it that often I'll wipe out the bathtub before I run a bath, just to be sure it's clean.

I don't like it when the cushions on the couch are haphazardly tossed all over.  I'm just not comfortable sitting on a messy couch.

But my absolute favorite:  I can't sleep in an unmade bed.  I just can't.  I can get into it, but I'm not comfortable and I end up getting out of it, making it, then getting back in.  My husband is working nights at the moment, and I end up making the bed right before I get into it because it's usually occupied all of the time - but at least it's made and I can rest.

So, what's yours?

I hate running water. We have one toilet that doesn't always stop running. You have to jiggle the handle sometimes to make it stop. Hate that.

I hate not knowing where the remote is.

Not really cleanliness issues.

That is mine too! I wasn't like that as a kid...but now for sure.
I also have to have my kitchen counters clear and clean. No clutter.

I don't like dirty dishes in the sink. I have to have all the dishes rinsed out and them put in the sink.

I also have to have a super clean toilet before I will use it. In fast I don't use public restrooms because I don't know how often they are cleaned.

Hmmm...let's just say that Ryan doesn't mind the kitchen being dirty. When he cooks, he'll throw the wrappers from the packages of hamburger or sandwich bags from lunch in the sink instead of the garbage where they belong, and then continue using the sink. It makes no sense to me to throw that stuff in the sink when the garbage is 1.5 feet below the sink. He also doesn't clean up the splatters on the stove or in the microwave, or the clumps of food that spill from leftovers or just dishing up.

So...you know what I'm doing this weekend. Grrrrr.

I also don't like dirty toilets or tubs. It's a little different if its dirty from ME...but if someone else has been in there, you know I'm going to clean it thoroughly.

I can't stand food or dirty dishes anywhere. It's gross to see cruddy food molded to the plate. Not to mention, it ruins the dishes.

Ditto. I'd rather piss in a paddock. ~or poo in a park ~than use a public lav. (get a nice mental image there?? hehehe)

My pet peeve, is when my freeloading buddies come over. Every Monday, without fail, there they are...playing Tiger Woods2004 with me (I kick their asses every game) till the wee small hours, all the while drinking my brewskies and scoffing my snacks like there's no tomorrow.

Don't get me wrong, ... I really do like my mates, but when they just up & leave at 3am (or later) without picking a damned thing up after themselves, I get a tad annoyed.

Hmm ....might call them this week and pretend the XboX is kaputski. I know two of them have their own, so I'll go over there and give 'em a taste of what it's like on KP duty after I have left! You can stash all sorts of stinky things under low furniture.... should be ripe within a few days, lol

Mine is towels and dirty (or not dirty sometimes) clothes on the floor.  My kids are getting better about putting their dirty clothes in the hamper because I got them those basketball hoop hampers but my hubby will still take his clothes off and leave them right where they fell even if it is right in front of the hamper....argh!

My runner up is shoes kicked off wherever.  I get especially mad when they walk into the middle of the living room and kick them off on the carpet.

Changing lightbulbs. I don't have a ladder, and there is one fixture that is always blowing. I end up balancing precariously on a chair in front of a set of stairs and am positive that I'm going to pitch. Other than that, just everything else. I hate housework with a passion. After living on my own now, I realize how much other people used to do for me. hehehe.

I'm a smoker and can't stand the stench of my ashtrays!

I dislike that too.  I want to be able to walk across my living room unhindered, not falling over other people's footwear every other step.  It doesn't seem to bug anyone else, but it gets to me.

Steven:  you know, I saw a cleaning hint for ashtrays the other night...after you've washed and dried it, spray some aerosol air freshner in it and let it dry.  The air freshener provides the surface with a barrier, and makes it easier to wash or wipe the smell away the next time you clean it - not to mention it smells good!

Nic:  I don't like changing lightbulbs either.  I'm short, and have a hard time reaching no matter what I stand on.  I used to not like housework...now that we've moved, however, I'm really enjoying it. I dunno why.

Another one I thought of was the toilet paper roll.  I have to have the paper hanging off the back of the roll, down the wall, not the front.  I've been known to surreptitiously change the roll around at other people's houses because it aggrivates me so much.  In our house I'm the only one who ever puts the roll on the holder, so I know it's done 'right'.

Same for me. I not only cleans before I bathe in tub, but also afterwards. I don't like using or leaving a dirty tub!

I got a different prolem with that. Too often theres 2 or 3 empty toilet paper rolls on table or floor, with one unemptied roll on counter.

Now to add something my own... Forks, knifes, etc left on kitchen counter after use and drty. Good thing I wash dishes everday.

What is it wth people using the last of the rool, taking the 'tube' off and putting it on the floor on in the trash but not putting another full roll on the holder?  How hard is it to put another roll on the holder?  Apparently is pretty tough, because I'm seemingly the only person who has the ability to do it in our house.

I too detest dirty silverware on the counter.  Cups on the table are a habit in our house.  I think that I'm done cleaning the kitchen and doing the dishes, then I turn and see 4 or 5 cups - usually with a swallow of juice or whatever left in the bottom - sitting on the kitchen table, waiting to get tipped over.  Drives me nuts!

I can't stand the little dirty smudges the kids leave on the walls! Grrr . . . I am also very serious about coasters. We spent the first several years of our marriage wtih hand-me-down furniture that didn't match, and we have finally been able to pick out and buy some furniture of our own . . . I have a really neat living room table set with a cofee table and two end tables and we have replaced our wobbly $100 dining room table with a new nice one, and so I insist on coasters . . . and I pledge them a lot. They still look used due to the beating they took in the move and from kids with grimey fingers.

Mr Clean Magic Eraser.  It's wonderful for marks left by grimey little fingers on walls, doors and even fridges.  I always have a couple stashed under my sink.

I only recently discovered these . . . I love them! They can even take crayon off the wall. They're amazing!
