Dave comes home tomorrow.

I've waited over a year for this auspicious event.  He left on August 3rd last year, and since then I've seen him for a whole 2 1/2 weeks.  I've been daydreaming of this reunion for months. I wanted everything to be perfect - well, as perfect as reality gets.

I didn't want to be ill.

I have a bit of a temperature, a scratchy throat, and a headache.  The back of my nose feels funny, like it usually does right before I get a snotty nose and a head cold.

I'm hoping that it's just because I'm sleep deprived (I have my neighbors to thank for that), and that a good night's sleep tonight will set me right again.  I'm hoping....because I really don't want my husband to step off the plane and see me, red-nosed, coughing and sniffling.  More importantly, I don't want to not be able to kiss him for fear of him getting sick too.  We have a ton of stuff to do next week, we can't afford for both of us to be ill.

So, I'm going to hope that it's just stress and fatigue, take some Nyquil and hit the hay early tonight.

Hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow....hopefully...!

the long-awaited dave-reunion is about to happen and you have a cold ?. it's worse than romeo and juliet !. how horrible !..

what to say ?. get some rest, and if you do wake up ill, do what i've been doing while i've had this buggy thing: kiss him on the back of the neck !. (never fails hehe).

Wahine:  I'll let you know if that works or not...

Miggy: It's tragic, isn't it?!  Par for the course for us though.

Thank you both for your comments!

I am feeling like I am coming down with something too but don't have the dire circumstances you are facing.  I suspect you will kiss no matter what   Do you suffer from sinus problems?  Mine have been wicked this year.  The unseasonable weather has been making me feel a bit like a cold coming on but decongestants are helping a lot.  I am on a prescription one called Entex.......love it!  Claritin-D works nicely too.

I say Vicks yourself up good, partake of the Nyquil like you mentioned, and sleep as much as possible.  Drink your OJ and take some Tylenol and vitamins in the morning.  I will send as many good vibes your way as I can.

Best wishes!

Yes, and I don't know why.  Maybe it's allergies...this summer has been unseasonably cool and damp. Maybe it's, like you said, the changeable weather.

I took some cold and sinus stuff about half an hour ago....my temperature is down, my nose isn't quite so scratchy, and my head feels better.  I'm going off to bed in a bit (my last night sleeping alone, yay!) and I'm sure I'll be feeling better in the morning!

Thanks for the vibes!

Maybe it has something to do with nerves? I don't know. But I hope that you feel better tomorrow upon Dave's arrival.

Hope its just stress and that it clears the moment you see Daves face!

Ahhh... Nyquil. Or as I refer to it, the "How fricking long was I out?" medicine.

Well, try not to think about the cold. I've traine dmyself to ignore illnesses until they go away. Works on colds, not so much on ebola. Just find something to distract your mind, and don't worry about it.

But, hey, don't worry about it. Just be happy.

Well, it's a cold, and he's not coming home today.

THe weather's too bad for the plane to take off, so it's been delayed 24 hours.  if it's not bad then, the plane will leave.  if it's still bad, it gets delayed another 24 hours.

i was expecting something like this, so i'm not terribly disappointed. the military's notoriously bad for being on time with the personnel issues...and he's going to be home sometime in the next few days.  that's all i need to know.

it just means that you all at JU have to put up with my company for another day...!

I'm sorry to hear that he won't be home today, Dharmagrl. At least your cool with it. Maybe it will give you some time to get over your cold.

And time to finish the laundry, wipe down the baseboards, wash the light fixtures, cleans the blinds...all that jazz that needs to get done for our housing final inspection.  It means that the party that was being held in Dave's honor tomorrow night won't be happening....but that I can live without.

Dharma,

well, the day's here...I hope all goes well for you in the move (and you get that danged washer drained), and that you get to spend some good quality time with your hubby

I am dreading our first PCS . . . how will we ever get the place as clean as the Army wants it? I'm glad that's a couple of years away. Blech. I don't even like to think about it.

I didn't even think about homecoming parties and all that stuff. Now it's all messed up.

Is your husband coming home alone, or are there other guys (and girls) coming home, too?
on Aug 13, 2004

well, the day's here

Nope, it's not going to be today.....maybe tomorrow.   Depends on the weather....

Wahine: There's a whole plane load of folks on the plane from Greenland, but once the get to the US they disperse.  After that, he's on his own.

The cleaning standards are much more relaxed than they used to be.  The only things the AF really looks at are the appliances and that bathrooms.  My stove is cleaned to inspection standards already, and the freezer and fridge just need wiped down.  One bathroom is done, and the other one is getting cleaned every other day so I shouldn't have to do much to it...now the only thing I have to do is the blinds, the light fixtures, and the baseboards.  The carpet's getting ripped up, so I don't have to worry about that..

..you know, now I'm getting worried that he won't be back in time for the packers (they're here on Monday) or for the final inspection (thursday).  Man, that's going to mess everything up....

SNAFU...no surprise there....

On the bright side, now you have an extra day to fight off the cold...stay Nyquilled up, and let the munchkins take care of you for a day!  Hope you feel better soon!!

And stop thinking negative thoughts....he WILL be home tomorrow!
