...a manicure and some slightly expensive yarn to knit a poncho with.  Yes, a poncho.  More about that to follow....

I got a manicure this morning.  On the spur of the moment I decided I wanted pretty nails, so I went and got them done.  I feel very.....decadent, considering all the bitching I've done in the past about not really being able to afford them and those on welfare having nails that are 6 inches long.  But hey, Dave's been encouraging me to go do something for myself for ages, so I did.  I could have got a pedicure as well, part of the package deal...but uggh, someone else touching my feet?  No thanks.  I now have pretty french manicured nails, and I have to tell ya...I like them.  I'm having a heck of a time getting used to typing with them, but I'm sure that will pass.

So, I'm going to have Muggaz beenie finished this evening, and then I'll start on my poncho.  Between my earth shoes, patched thrift store jeans, homsteading plans and now this yearning to create and wear a poncho....I think it's official.  I'm turning into a hippie.

And I LOVE that.

I'm turning into a hippie

Hippies don't have french  manicures

I absolutely love pedicures!  I had the same attitude as you at first but gave it a try.  It is so relaxing!  Foot massage is soooo nice!  You really ought to give it a try some time.

BTW, I am jealous of the manicure.  My nails are almost nonexistant at the moment.  Makes typing easy though.

wow, I must be decadant extraordinare then...while I was visiting my parents last week, I got my hair colored and cut, a manicure and pedicure and my eyebrows waxed...

of course, that coud explain why my credit card company called me today to verify charges...

you'll have to post a picture of the poncho when you are done!

This one does........and she likes it very, very much.

What color?!  I just went back to uber red again. I was blonder for a while, and it just wasn't me. I pluck my eyebrows (color them as well), I waxed them once and didn't like the shape I got.

Well, if you girls tell me pedicures are good.....perhaps when I go get my nails filled-in I'll get the package deal and get a pedicure as well.

You know, if (when) we all get together, we should have a day out at a spa and then have a night on the town.

The poncho...will be gorgeous, I think.  It's a sage green bobbly kind of yarn, very light but quite lofty as well.  I'm terribly excited to get it started.

Anyone else want a hat?

What color?!

Actually, I went back to my natural color, a darkish brown, and then had some really tame highlights which look like natural sun exposure--it won't look so horrid growing out. It's too expensive to have highlights in this city.

My nails are naturally long, so I have never had tips put on--that could explain why typing feels so weird.

As for pedicures, they are great--especially if you are going to a place that has the massage chair! Amazing.

Dharma pedicures are great! Go for it! Although I have found that most women dot like their feet touched or massaged whereas most men do..thats my experience..
Your beenie has been a godsend! Its been so cold here! I wore it to bed!
And Dharma the hippie sounds great to me... but im sure you will put a new class to hippie..an evolved one.. with lots of style!

Ok, everyone seems to be raving about the pedicure.....when I go get a fill-in done for my nails I'll be brave and get one done.

Why is it that the thought of someone else touching my feet grosses me out?  I don't even like Dave touching my feet...not that he would anyway, he's had too many bad experiences with my stinky sandal feet.

Don't worry about stinky feet.  They will soak your feet in a nice, bubbly, cleansing bath before they start working on them.  You will have a whole new attitude toward your feet after they are all smooth and prettied up.  Foot massage, if done correctly, can relax your entire body.  My hubby and I give each other foot massages quite regularly.  We both find them quite "drool worthy".

I've given foot massages to Dave and he's loved them.  He said it was almost enough to send him off to sleep.  Hes not the kind of guy to ask for things like that, but when he was home on leave he asked for a foot rub...so I must be doing something right!

Everyone should splurge every once in a while. After what you've been through this past month, I say it's well-deserved.
