as most of you know, i live on an air force base.

we have planes on air force bases.  big ones.  with big engines.

here where i'm at, we have B-1 bombers.  huge things.  very loud.

for some reason, tonight is the night that the people on mid-shift have chosen to fire up those engines for 30 - 45 seconds, let them die down again for 5 mins, then fire them up again.

no amount of double glazing, ai rconditioning, or background noise is going to shut out the sound of those engines.

so i'm not sleeping.  just wanted you to know.

this sucks.

it's so late (well, early) dharma !. ... perhaps you could sing ? ... loudly ... got an amplifier ? .

i hate being kept awake. once i'm asleep, a brick could fall on my head and i don't budge, but i HATE not being able to drift off. you have my sympathies.

hey, i know ... make yourself some hot mik ... (then streak out in your jammies and throw it on them)

Hehe...yeah, my streaking out on the flightline would get some attention alright.

I'd just be afraid of getting sucked up into the intake and sliced and diced into many small pieces!

You know, my husband's like that....able to fall aslep anytime, anywhere, and at the drop of a hat.  If there's nothing else to do...he'll fall asleep.  I really envy that.....

Lack of sleep sucks!  I feel for you.  We had a big thunderstorm the other night.  Usually I like storms and fall right asleep but for some reason it kept me up and made me unnerved.  I think it reminded me too much of the storm that turned into a tornado a few years back.  I still haven't caught up on sleep!  Hope you are able to catch a nap.

I had a nagging pain that wouldn't ease up.  I started searching around and found some vicodin from my last surgery.  I think a tornado could have come by and not woke me up .

Hope you get some sleep!

Whoo hoo! Vicodin! I have some of that!  And some valium too.....

No, no nap.  I'll be ok, I'm just laying around knitting Muggaz beenie today.

dharma, i'm glad to see you survived the night without needing to resort to my combination streaking/hot milk solution.

Mostly, if I'm kept up nights on post, it's because of dumbasses driving around with their car stereos turned up too loud, or drunks fighting in the street.
Monobrow lives in a location that manages to funnel lots of noise from distant firing ranges, tho. He hears a lot of artillery and machine gun fire, sometimes. Night fire's a bitch...
