I have lower back problems. I herniated the disc between L1 and L2 and I have arthritis in L2. It's painful, and it makes walking or standing painful. Heeled shoes don't do me any favors either.
I had heard from a yoga teacher that Kalso Earth Shoes might help. They have this 'negative heel' deal in them, which throws your spine into the proper alignment. I asked my doc about it, and he said the theory had some merit to it, so I went off in search of some Earth shoes (not the kind you find at Wal-Mart, those are not the same things at all)
I found the web site and went and looked at them...they're kinda spendy, the cheapest ones were $80. With us moving and all, I couldn't really justify spending that much on them.....but then I found some on Overstock.com for $33 and bought them.
They got here today, and I couldn't wait to get them on my tootsies. At first, wearing them made me feel like I was leaning backwards....but after about half an hour of wearing them I realised that my shoulders were thrown back, my breathing felt easier (much like it does when I sit Lotus and meditate)...and I didn't have any twinges in my lower back (a big, deal, because it's hurt like hell recently).
I think I'm in love with my Earth shoes.....and with Overstock.com!
