I got another crab for my birthday, and I named him Tudley.  It's a funny name, but there's a standing joke behind it...when my little boy (Jake) was small he had difficulty saying  'r'.  It would come out sounding like 'ahhhhh'.  One day he had been out in the yard and had stepped in some dog poo...and he said "I trod in a tud". So, ever since then, we've made a point of saying 'tud' not 'turd' in Jake's presence.

When I picked up this crab out of the tank at the store today, he pinched Jake on the palm....Jake said "man he's a grumpy..." and before he could finish I said "Tud.  And that's what we're going to name him.  Tudley".

So, Tudley is settling into his crabitat and is getting acquainted with his fellow crustaceans.  He has a pretty blue shell...but he's looking a bit cramped in there so I think he might be moving into one of the bigger spare ones we have laying around.

Pictures to follow.....

Awww......that's so cute! Don't you just love the way little kids have with words? lol. I used to own hermit crabs myself. But that was along while ago. I think they're so funny to watch. When I had mine they would fight each other. hehe. Good luck with them! Looking forward for pics.

Mine have had one fight so far, when Martin decided he wanted Jacques shell and tried to bully him into giving it up.  They're doing really quite well together...Tud-der is in the coco-hut making friends with everyone else.
