I'm pathetic.

I have no kids at home tonight.  My daughter is sleeping over at a friend's house, and my boys are sleeping over with their buddies across the street.  I have freedom, more importantly freedom on a summer Friday night.

I could go downtown to a bar, I could go to a movie, I could call my friends and go drink and dance at a club...the small town of Rapid City, SD, is my oyster.  I don't have to be home at a certain time, I could roll up at 7 am and no-one would know but me...I could go eat a 3am breakfast at Perkins with the rest of the drunks...

..so what am I doing?

I'm staying home and cleaning my oven.

How pathetic is that?!

It sounds like a perfectly fine night. Crank up the music, dance around the kitchen and you can still go and have your 3am breakfast when you've recovered from the godawful fumes those oven cleaners create! And if you're not drinking you won't feel as crap as I do this morning. Evil, evil alcohol (but I love it so...)
Have a great night!

Yes, I know the feeling.  Not today, but in the past and the not-too-distant-future.

I gave up after a bit and went to bed at 1am.  I'll finish the racks and the broiler today.

I am soooo lame.  I really should get a life.

Nothing wrong with enjoying some peace and quiet

just out of curiosity, is there anything there with more entertainment value than say, an all nite diner, thats open all night?

Not really.  We have 2 movie theaters, more than a few bars but only a handful that I'd even consider going to, no nightclubs at all, 1 strip joint, a whole hoop of 'casinos'..think video poker machines and nothing else, not slots or anything....and 2 diners that are open all night (Denny's and Perkin's). On the non-nightlife side of the house, we have one museum, and 2 spank fodder stores, both open 24 hrs (one with a topless beer bar attached to it)

The most bohemian place in town is Borders (unless you consider spank fodder stores bohemian).  We used to have a coffee house, but it got over-run with smack heads and crank addicts, so the city council made their lives hell until they closed.  The spank fodder places and strip joints are heading the same way.

So, that's what there is to do in Rapid City.  Now do you understand why I blog so much?!

Face it, Dharma....you're an old married lady, complete with children.....the good old days are gone...... I'm kidding, I'm kidding!!! (If you come to W-P, we will have to go out some night and put THAT idea to rest! )

Welll......the actual town where W-P is located isn't much better, but we're not all that far from three major Ohio cities....20 minutes or so to Dayton, 45 to Cincinnati, and an hour to Columbus....lots of places to get into trouble!!

Oh man...now I really want to go there!  Here, we're 7 hours from Denver and 8 hours from Minneapolis.  Theresa, start praying......that we get to go to W-P!!!  I know I am!

Maybe I am just an old married woman with kids too, but sometimes, not often, but sometimes it feels better to get something done around the house than to go out and party.  I went out for a bachelorette night Sat and we all kind of pooped out on the whole dance seen.  It was 99% single women dancing and single guys oggling.  We were all married or soon to be so it just wasn't a thrill like it used to be.  Sure, we drank, but ended up in bed by 12:30.

I found planting my annuals much more rewarding

Well, if you read my article about how DH and I celebrated our anniversary this weekend, sans children, you'll see that the majority of that was old married folks staying home...as will be the rest of the two weeks or so that the girls are at my mother's house.

Man, we're all pathetic!

I just have a better time in the comfort of my own home that I do out on the town.  I have no interest in getting ogled by single guys (there's only one guy I'm interested in ogling me), not really that much interest in getting drunk in public...Jill's right, the thrill of partying until the wee hours is gone for me.

Maybe so, but I wouldn't trade it for the world!!

I don't know. I still like to go out quite a bit. I don't know if I'd ever prefer doing something like dishes over catching up with friends. I can't party like I used to be able to, but I wouldn't be turning down a free night out to stay at home on my own. I can relax when I'm a senior citizen, hehehe.

These days, I prefer to do my catching up with friends right here at home....a nice bottle of wine, a cut throat trivia game, some good music.....that's a wild night!!
