Yeah, I said caramel apple pizza.  Don't turn your noses up, it's not what you think - there's no tomato sauce involved, although there is some cheese.

Ok, here's what you need:

8oz cream cheese (one whole block of Philly or Cooper will do)

1/3 cup caramel apple dip (can be found in the refrigerated section of the produce department)

1 14oz pizza crust (Boboli or some other brand; any kind of pre-baked crust will do)

2 large apples (I prefer a Gala, Jonagold, Jonathon or Granny Smith; something a wee bit tart), cored and thinly sliced

2tbsp sugar

1/4 tsp cinnamon

1/3 cup coarsely shopped salted cashews (or any other salted nut of your choice)

another 1/4 cup caramel apple dip

Now, here's how you put it together:

Heat the oven to 350 degrees.

Combine the cream cheese and 1/3 cup dip until well blended.  Spread on pizza crust to within 1" of edge.

Toss the sliced apples with the sugar and cinnamon until evenly coated.  Lay slices evenly on the cheese -y crust (I start mine on the outside and work inwards until all the crust/cheese is covered).

Sprinkle the nuts over the top, then drizzle the remaining caramel dip over the top of the whole thing.

Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until the apples are tender.

Serve warm.

I made this yesterday, and it disappeared in under an hour.  Considering we have 2 picky vegetarians and a husband who doesn't like anything I make living in this house, that's pretty remarkable.  This recipe is a keeper, imo.

Let me know how you enjoy it!

Sounds yummy! I'm guessing there are several substitutions one could make for the crust, were they so inclined.

I may have to make this for our "Gobblers, Gospel & Guthrie" jamboree this coming Thanksgiving (I'll give more details later).

When I clicked on the title, I read it as "Dharma's To Die For"... I clicked to read an artcile I could agree with. ;~D

The Carmel Apple Pizza sounds good too, I'll have to try it this fall.

It sounds delicious. Compulsively, I tallied up the nutritional information (based on searches on CalorieKing.com) and, while it's not healthy, I've seen worse.

Serving size = 1/8 pizza

Serving - 393 cal, 168 fat cal, 19g fat, 10g sat fat, 50g carb, 2g fiber, 8g protein

There's no way I'm making it, though, because I'd eat the whole dang thing.

Whole dang thing - 3143 cal, 1342 fat cal, 149g fat, 76g sat fat, 399g carb, 19g fiber, 65g protein

edit: ps - A sheep?

Yep, there sure are.  You could use a Bisquick crust, or make your own sweetbread crust....or even, as gross as this counds, make one with a little cheese in it. Cheese and apple go together remarkably well, although it sounds weird.

Thanks, and I hope that everyone likes it!

Oh hush.  I'm blushing!

You know, for some reason I always associate the taste of a slightly tart apple with fall.  I dunno why.

So you do care packages?

Yep.  Jake and Shea are both vegetarians.  Shea hasn't eaten meat in over a year and Jake's heading for 6 months.

And yes, I DO do care packages.

It sounds delicious

It IS!

I'd eat the whole dang thing

It's a good thing I have other people living in the house, or else I'd have been tempted to eat it all myself.  As it was, I got one decent sized slice and when I went back for more it was all gone.

However, I'm making some more today!

Yeah, a sheep.  You gave me yarn, so I threw a sheep at you.

It's a knitting thing.

One of the referrals for this article is a Google search for "people die from using old bisquick".

Good times.
