Today was day three of my new job, and I have to say that I am absolutely loving it.

My patients are absolute joys to be around.  They've been married for 65 years, which just blows my mind, and are the sweetest, nicest people you'd ever want to meet.  They both have a progressive neurological disease and whilst he manages to get around the house ok, she needs a lot of help.  He mostly needs supervision; someone around to make sure he takes his meds when he's supposed to and doesn't try to do too much. He does all of the cooking, and he does a heck of a job - and he insists on my eating lunch with him before I go home for the day.

The love that they have for each other is almost palpable, and it's a wonderful experience to watch them interact with each other.  Yes, their bodies are failing them, but their minds are still very clear and it's so obvious that they are completely and utterly in love with each other.

So far, I'm loving this job, and I can't see that changing.

*I apologize for not updating my other threads; I'll try to get to them this afternoon - and I'll also try to get sock monkey photos up as well.*

I'm so glad that you found this. It sounds like it's a blessing to both you and them. Yay!

Isn't it great to be alive and to touch the lives of others. My wife does shift-care nursing and thats exactly how she feels about her lady with osteogenesis imperfecta who is on a respirator at home. These sound like great people. Love them, relish the experience.

Strong work, my dear, strong work.

Glad you're having a good time, and getting paid to enjoy your time with them!

Too often we miss seeing this part of love....the love that has been cooking for years....I am glad you get to be there to help them and witness their love.
