Usually, I am the giver of knitted things, not the reciever.

Our very own Spc Nobody Special decided to change all that.  I came home from shopping yesterday to find a priority mail box addressed to me sitting on the kitchen counter.  When I opened it, I found a hand knitted cabled scarf in a gorgeous colorway and a note from SpcNBS.

I can't begin to tell you how touched I am that someone would think enough of me to spend time knitting a scarf for me!  I know how good it feels to give knitted things, but now I know that it feels equally good to recieve them!

So, SpcNBS, thank you SOOOOOO much!  I wore the scarf this morning when Dave and I went out for our anniversary breakfast (we got married 13 years ago today - I love you, Dave.  It's all been well worth it - and we traditionally go out to eat sometime on our anniversary).  See:

Aint it purdy?!  It even matches the color in my hair!

Thanks again, NBS.  You should change your name...'cause you're certainly somebody special to me.

Spc Nobody Special chose her colours well; they really suit you

I know!  That purple is almost the exact same color as the purple in my hair!

Very nice scarf, dharma. Me likey

Me likey too!  Speaking of scarves, I'm going to drop you a line re: your linux scarf later today...

How thoughtful!

I know!

NBS is a dude. A weird dude, but a dude nonetheless

He IS a dude.  I've seen pictures.

What a nice surprise for you

It was, and I'm very touched!

And maybe some socks........

Sock knitting is a wonderful pastime.  They knit up fairly quickly, they're practical, and the patterns aren't mind-numbingly boring.

Nice scarf...I'm beginning to feel like everyone knows how to knit except me

We can always remedy that, you know.  If you want to learn, I'll point you in the right direction, and I'm sure that NBS and Mason would help out too.

Now, I really like that picture on the wall in the background. Can you tell me about it?

It's a print that I found at Wal-Mart.  We have a 50's police theme going on in our living room - we have Rockwell's 'The Runaway' and a couple of shadow boxes with old police memorabilia in them, and when I saw this print I thought that it would fit in really well.  It reminds me of Mayberry; I look at it and expect Barney Fife to come sauntering down the street!

Dharma, it is a scarf, not a Muffler!

I know, but I wanted the photo to show off the scarf and how well it goes with my skin and hair color - not to mention the cables in it.  This was the best way to show all of those things off.

Damn nice of him. Looks like he did a great job on it.

He DID do a wonderful job on it.  The cables are very nicely done!

Excellent scarf, Dharma. You sure deserve to be a receiver too.

BTW, congratulations on 13 years as well.

Thank you, Maso.

Oh yeah, congrats on that whole Anniversary thing too

Ditto!

Thank you both!

OMG D you look great!! even with the scarf which btw is beautiful!

Thanks, P!  I've decided that I'm not going to cut my hair short again; longer hair suits me far better than short hair ever did!
