I know that you're probably saying 'yes, Dharma, we know there was an ice storm and everything is covered in ice' but indulge me a little here.  I've never experienced an ice storm before.  Snow, yes.  Blizzards, yes.  Being snowed in the house and having to dig my way out, yes.  Ice storm, no.

So, here are some more photos of everything ice-covered - and I have to tell you that getting them this afternoon was really creepy.  All the trees were creaking, you see.  It was quiet out except for the creaking - punctuated by occasional snapping sounds and limbs gave way under the weight of the ice and fell to the ground.

That's a bush in front of the neighbor's house.  I like the way the red and orange berries look under 1/2" of ice.

That's the tree on the corner of my street.  I love the way the setting sun is in the background - I actually had to leave my husband putting away groceries to get this shot.  He didn't understand about the way the light looked and didn't seem very pleased as I dashed out of the house, camera in hand.  Matter of fact, I think that's an accurate description of everything that's wrong with my marriage.  He doesn't understand and isn't pleased.  Howzabout that for simplicity?

The street signs a block away from me.  These didn't turn out as well as I had hoped.  I first saw them from the truck on the way to the store this afternoon and thought that the light might be the same by the time we got done.  It wasn't.  I wish I'd have stopped the truck and taken the photo on the way there, but if my taking photos AFTER incurred his wrath, can you imagine what stopping on the way THERE would have done?  Yeah, me too.

My poor rose!  It thought that it was spring the first part of last week, and now it's frozen solid!

And specially for 'miah:

That ball got dropped in there around 9am.  It didn't get warm enough today to thaw the net out and let the ball drop.

I'll let you know when it does.

Hi there Dharma!  fantastic!  the photos are great!!   we've had a few ice storms so I know how nasty they are.

I tried to drive through one,  back in the taxi cab days,  and it took me 45 minutes to 7 blocks!  so I went back home.

Glad you took those,  you can share them someday with grandchildren!!  how about that?!  Those photos could be framed as art work too

Stay warm and safe this weekend

I don't blame you, I'd have gone back home too!
Tonight will be treacherous on the roads. The sun thawed a few places out, and tonight all that water on the road will refreeze...it's gonna be a skating rink out there.

Wow, thank you! I was considering using the one with the berries as a Christmas card, but I'm not sure I like it enough. I am going to print some of them out and make an album out of them though.

I'm really getting into photography. I'd like to get a proper film camera as well as a digital one and make the hallway closet into a darkroom, but that's an awful lot of work. I am going to try and take some black and white shots tomorrow; I think they'd work with the ice beautifully.

Never? I guess there is Global warming!  We have had that a lot.  My first ice storm was Germany, 75!

They are beautiful.  And nasty as hell!  We had a 4 incher about 6 years ago! 4 inches of Ice!

Send me your snow!  No one wants the ice.

Never been in an ice storm, eh? Couple years back we had one hell of an ice storm...knocked the power out for 5 days at my house...fun, fun, fun...oh, and a decent sized branch just missed hitting my car in the driveway. Everything does look really cool (teehee) though.

Sorry, but all I think of with all that ice everywhere is how good would cocktails be with cubes snapped off a tree

Sweet pics, especially like the one with the rose.

Also, I found some new yarns you might like. They're acrylic, but they're done in camouflauge. They've got desert, woodland, and ACU colors. I think I'm gonna make an ACU afghan.......

Ice storms are the worst. I remember when I was a field tech in the cable business in Ohio. We had one really bad ice storm that knocked out our system. I remember being on a ladder trying to splice the cables and having to keep my feet moving to keep them from freezing to the ladder. I had to pull my hand out of one of my gloves because it had frozen to the line while I was splicing.

Ice belongs in a glass.
