I LOVE getting a bargain.  It makes me feel so good to know that I got something for a lot less than retail price. I like to tell people how much I paid for things; I relish getting a good deal.

But you know what I love more than getting a bargain for myself?  Getting a bargain for someone else.

This morning I went to the thrift store on base looking for outfits for Angela Marie's baby.  I was hoping to get a couple of what I call baby-gro's...I think they're called sleepers over here, but they can be worn during the day as well as at night.  Anyway, I hoped to find a couple of those and maybe another little outfit.

I walked out of the store about $7 poorer with 13 little pink and purple baby-gro's, nighties and outfits in my hands.  13 of them.  SCORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Angela, I'm washing these little things as I write this, and then they're going to be put in a box ready to ship out to you in a couple of weeks.  You don't have to worry about your little one coming home from the hospital naked; there's enough outfits in that box to clothe a newborn for a week! (I do hope that you're not averse to your baby wearing gently used clothing)

I wish that I could accurately describe how I feel right now.  I went to the gym this morning and walked/ran three miles on the treadmill so I have a few endorphins surging through my body, but the buzz that I have is due to being able to help someone out (and scoring pretty darn big for them).  I LOVE giving, whether it's time or money or material things.  It makes me happy; it gives me a buzz to know that I've been able to make a difference to someone.

Look out, Angela!  Baby clothes are coming your way!

LOL, I've been browsing Old Navy this morning. Unfortunately their site is acting screwy today.

Would you mind emailing me your mailing address. I know I have it, but it would take me forever to locate it.

Thanks!

Sweet find! I love a bargain! I'm putting some stuff together too and will let you know.

Oh I envy the gym time!

What a find. You are so sweet helping other people. I have the best intentions but have serious problems with follow through. I still have make and mail dharma a birthday card on my to do list since when August? See the thing was that I was going to find you some cute socks and the ball stopped rolling there. I'm sure Angela will really appreciate what you did for her.

Oh Dharma! I got on here to write about some of the cute things my son does, before the baby takes over...

Then I saw my name in the recent article list??

As I read my eyes welled up with tears. Could you be any sweeter?

With your endorphin rush + the joy of giving...you are as wonderful as you feel!

((((Karen))))

Gosh I don't know what to say. I could go on gushing all day. Thank you, thank you kind, sweet Karen!

From the husband,

For all of you who are participating in this endevor I send thanks from the deepest part of my heart. I'm not into the girly things like a baby showers so it's nice that Angela has the support that she needs when she needs it from her friends on JoeUser. As I leave in January I hope that Angela keeps in touch with all of you because it's appearent that you are her support net when I not around. Thanks again, we will post pictures of our little one in all of her gifts as soon as we can. Thanks again!!

Heh, dharma, you got off QUITE A BIT cheaper than me, but I'm very excited about the goodies I found (I can't get enough of buying girl stuff ). Thanks for the quick reply with your mailing address. I'll have my package sent off to you either this afternoon or sometime early tomorrow.

Excellent!

Oh I envy the gym time!

You know, I used to be worried about going because I've gained some weight and felt like everyone would be staring at my big ass jiggling on the treadmill.  However, I've found that most of the hardbodies have left by 8am when I get there, and the only people there are retirees - and they make me feel like I'm in excellent shape!  So, after today's endorphin high I think that I'm going to be going every day!

I have the best intentions but have serious problems with follow through

I do too about some things.  Like homework.  And sometimes housework.

As I read my eyes welled up with tears. Could you be any sweeter?

Ohhhhhh yeah I could.  Ask my husband...I can be very sour about some stuff and a total beeatch about others.

Gosh I don't know what to say

You've said thank you, and that's enough!  I just wanted you and your husband to be able to relax a little bit and not have to worry about things so much.  New babies are so precious; you should be able to chill and concentrate on getting to know each other!  Besides, they're not new clothes, they're gently used...but still very cute!

I feel a ripple effect coming on. You're spreading joy and it makes me want to spread joy too

Pay it forward, sistah!

Aww!  You're very welcome!

As I leave in January I hope that Angela keeps in touch with all of you because it's appearent that you are her support net when I not around.

I'll be sure to check in on her whilst you're gone.  I know how lonely deployments can be for the one left behind, and it's stressful trying to look after 2 little kids on your own.  I'll be here, and I know that other people will be here for her too....so try not to worry!

Thanks again, we will post pictures of our little one in all of her gifts as soon as we can

Take your time, we're not going anywhere!

Heh, dharma, you got off QUITE A BIT cheaper than me, but I'm very excited about the goodies I found (I can't get enough of buying girl stuff ).

If I had gone into town to shop, I'm sure that I could quite easily have dropped $50+ on baby clothes because I'm the same way!  They're all so small and cute...it's hard to hold back!

I'll have my package sent off to you either this afternoon or sometime early tomorrow.

Thank you!

OK, so I've got everything sealed up and ready to go, but it seems kinda stupid and a bit wasteful not to just send the package directly to her.

Angela, if you are comfortable giving me your mailing address, I can just send your package right to you...it will be cheaper and get there faster. If you're not comfortable with that, no worries, I won't be offended.

My email address is brandie0121 at yahoo dot com.

Now that it's ready to go, I'm just feeling kind of silly about having the package make a pit stop before reaching its destination.

Yup, yup! I've been buying for boys for so long, it's exciting to get to look at the other stuff!

First off, you are very sweet to do this (you and all the others, too).

Secondly, good job on the gym. (I don't want to toot my own horn, but I've been getting some extra workout the past couple of days, too.)

Point three:
13 of them. SCORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are so off. A score would be 20.

Thank you great lady!
