I LOVE getting a bargain. It makes me feel so good to know that I got something for a lot less than retail price. I like to tell people how much I paid for things; I relish getting a good deal.
But you know what I love more than getting a bargain for myself? Getting a bargain for someone else.
This morning I went to the thrift store on base looking for outfits for Angela Marie's baby. I was hoping to get a couple of what I call baby-gro's...I think they're called sleepers over here, but they can be worn during the day as well as at night. Anyway, I hoped to find a couple of those and maybe another little outfit.
I walked out of the store about $7 poorer with 13 little pink and purple baby-gro's, nighties and outfits in my hands. 13 of them. SCORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Angela, I'm washing these little things as I write this, and then they're going to be put in a box ready to ship out to you in a couple of weeks. You don't have to worry about your little one coming home from the hospital naked; there's enough outfits in that box to clothe a newborn for a week! (I do hope that you're not averse to your baby wearing gently used clothing)
I wish that I could accurately describe how I feel right now. I went to the gym this morning and walked/ran three miles on the treadmill so I have a few endorphins surging through my body, but the buzz that I have is due to being able to help someone out (and scoring pretty darn big for them). I LOVE giving, whether it's time or money or material things. It makes me happy; it gives me a buzz to know that I've been able to make a difference to someone.
Look out, Angela! Baby clothes are coming your way!
