Knitting. Yarn. Fiber artistry. More knitting. Nursing school. Hospice work. Death and the dying process. Phoenix Raven's. Knitting. Yarn. Oh, and Life As An Air Force Wife.

You get excited about a new yarn you've seen and spend an entire day searching for projects to make using it.

You wake up in the night smiling having just had an awesome dream about said yarn and the fingerless mittens and matching scarf you crafted out of it.

You practice saying "oh yes, isn't the coloring and texture beautiful?  I made them myself you know!" in anticipation of people asking you about the fingerless mitts and scarf you made out of the yarn you had a happy dream about and spent an entire day searching for patterns for.

Your dream job is working in a yarn store and getting paid in-kind.

Your super-duper dream - the one that will probably never happen but you like to dream about anyway because it's good to have goals you'll never reach so you'll always stay motivated - is to actually own your own yarn store because then you'd be able to just reach out and take yarn off the shelves and not have to pay for it (not in the traditional 'go stand in line and hand over cash at the register' sense, anyway).

You call yourself a 'yarn junkie' and feel no shame in doing so because you mean it wholeheartedly and it's an accurate description.

You cruise second hand and thrift stores looking for sweaters - not to wear, but to disassemble, frog (that's knitting-ese for unravelling), wash, and re-use.

Those are my 'you know you're sad when''s, JU.   What are yours?

Right now, I am too old to have any.  But these are not making you a sad person.  They are just reinforcing your yarn-yunkie status!  And given your gifts, that is not bad or sad!

I'm the same way with bicycles, especially recumbents. I'd love to own my own bent store.

I've had a few dreams during my lifetime,  some have stayed,  some evaporated...

I'm ( oh this is TRULY pathetic...) i'm this way about dolls,  ballerina dolls that were made in the 50's and into the 60's.  I love to get them,  restore them, wash them up,  their hair is easy to wash and make shine again,  and get clothes for them.  I'm on the verge of trying to learn to sew clothes for dolls.  I used to make clothes in high school so maybe....

Can't say as that this would be a dream into a goal like you have,  however it's a good past-time...

I'm know I'm sad and have no life when the highlight of my day is playing JU daily trivia and the highlight of my week is watching Project Runway on Wednesday nights.

This is very true.

The yarn I'm currently obsessing over came home from the store with me today.  It's a self-striping (meaning that when you knit it it stripes itself, rather than being a conglomeration of colors all over the place like a variegated yarn is) in a soy/wool blend.  The one I chose is called 'Natural Blue' and goes from an ivory to a wheat to beige to tan to light blue, light sky blue, mid sky blue and on to a denim blue.  It will go with my suede and corderoy winter jackets - which is why I didn't mind paying almost $8 a ball for it.  I've cast on the first fingerless mitten already, and if I like the way the mitts and the scarf turn out I could easily persuade myself that I needed a matching hat!

Pictures will be forthcoming, I promise.

I do recall that you truly loved working on and riding your laid-back bike.  I saw one at the BX a few weeks back; it was marked at $119 and had I not just got a new bike at the start of the summer I'd have given some serious thought to buying it.

Can you post a picture of what you're talking about?  I think I know, and I think I've seen some at yard sales and at the base thrift store....and if I'm right, the next time I see one that's in need of some attention, I'll nab it and mail it to you.

Dolly clothes are a heck of a lot easier to make than people clothes.  If you can make people clothes, I'll bet you'd be a dab hand at ballerina doll dresses!

Heck, my weeks revolve around evening TV programming too.  Monday it's Prison Break, Tuesday it's House, Wednesday it's MythBusters, Thursday sucks because there isn't much on that I like to watch, Friday is Dr G and Skeleton Stories, Saturday is movie night and Sunday is Deadwood (and the wondefully written Big Love - I can't wait for the next series).

I think its outstanding you have something you love to do, you are obviously good at, and the best part, can get paid to do it! That rocks. Some people go an entire lifetime and never find their passion.

As for Deadwood, I LOVE that show. It took awhile because I have to watch it with ear phones or way down low after the kids go to bed. All those flying f'ers! hahaha.

My dream is to publish books in different genres, but its such a cliché dream I almost hate to say it out loud. But it is what it is.~shrugs~

I read that first line a little too quickly. I thought you said you got excited about getting a new yam...needless to say I was a little confused.

I'm a scrapbook junkie.

Most people have some paper. Some even measure their stash by how many inches the stack is. I have feet of paper. I cumpusively think about the cool projects I could do if I just had that amazing stuff right over there. My ribbon stash is big too, but I justify that becuase i sew with it too. I dream about the pictures I'll take of my kids and how I can incorporate them into a page or gift or project.
I admit, I am a craft-a-holic.

Unfortunately, my sewing stuff is getting almost as bad. I have drawers of patterns and boxes of fabric just waiting for me to sew.

Revel in it. You are fantastic!

I think I may blog. Thanks for the inspiration.

Thursday is UFC night, which I'll miss while I'm here (and I forgot to set the forsaken VCR!) unless I figure out this time difference and stake out the TV room ahead of time.

I don't think I really need to go into my "it's sad whens", but thanks for the floor.

Sure I can post a picture, I"ll gather them up over the weekend and take a pic and then maybe finish up the roll and take it to town.

I do have some fabrics, and stuff for making clothes, it'd have to be done by hand. I guess i could give it go....what harm is there in trying? won't know if I don't try! Thanks dharma
