As I have mentioned before, I have a problem with stinky feet when I wear sandals.

It really irks me, because I prefer to wear sandals or be barefoot...hence my feet are usually grimy or smelly.

Last summer something happened that clued me in as to how bad they really were....the upstairs potty got clogged and overflowed, and by the time Dave and I got there to turn the water off it was all over the floor and running down the wall downstairs. There's an a/c vent that I thought that water had got into, so the day after I was sitting on the floor trying to take the screws out of the vent so I could take it off the wall and clean it. I called Dave down to help me, and whilst we were sitting there I made the comment that I thought I could smell something in there... to which he replied "Sorry, babe, but I think that's your feet. That's all I can smell".
Well, I was mortified, and went on a foot washing and deodorizing quest. Thing is, it only ever happens when I wear sandals, and it seems that no matter how much I wash, how much foot powder, deodorant and sprays I use, when I wear sandals I get funky feet.

I think I may have found a solution. Today I got a pair of sandals that have something called Vaporloc. Thay have a cushy sole in them that's made out of a fabric that #1 wicks away moisture, #2 has some kind of stuff in them that fights the funk and fungus too (YUKKKKK!!!!), and #3 allows the moisture to disappate whilst you're wearing them and the shoe to dry totally when you take them off.

This could be the answer my feet have been praying for. Dave might have to get used to having a wife who doesn't get stinky feet in the summer. This could be the beginning of a whole new funk-free-feet era for me.

I'll wear them tomorrow and see how they work.

Let me know how that goes. I am always self concious about that sort of thing.

I have seriously dry feet, which poses it's own issues.  (Skin gets dry and cracks easy) but I *love* wearing sandals and being barefoot.  (Wearing Tevas right now, but usually wear Birkenstocks)  Anyway, my husband comes from a family of smelly feet.  Soaking your feet in Epsom salt and putting antiperspirant on your feet before wearing sandals can help keep the smell away.

I used anti perspirant on my feet all summer last year, and they still got funky. Like I said, it's only ever when I wear sandals. The sandals I got yesterday seem to be working as advertised so far, though....

Maybe the sandals themselves get funky and make your feet funky?  Theoretically your feet should smell worse after wearing shoes than after being out in the air with sandals.

I wash the sandals when they get funky..apparently it's because I'm not wearing socks that absorb the moisture. Sandals, bare feet and heat are ideal for stinkiness.

The sandals I got yesterday are a success so far!! No smell as yet, and dry feet all day! Yay!!

I have sucessfully used bleach in a weak solution and occasionally also epsom salt as a fix for this.

Could it be the type of sandles you were wearing? Were they natural materials like leather or were they those kind with the plastic or rubber?

If I try to wear the latter my feet stink too, but all natural ones of leather or padded leather don't give me that problem. I wear sandles pretty much all the time when the temps are above freezing. My favorites are the Earth Shoes (not an ad I don't work for them )they are all leather except for the cusioning that makes them very comfortable.

It hasn't really made that much difference, Mason.  Howver, the sandals I got are still working...not even so much as a hint of funkiness yet.

Glad you found something that works for you.

My feet just always stink. But I am sort of a stinky man anyway. My wife hasn't kicked me out of bed for it, yet.

Glad you found something serviceable dharmagrl!
