I believe that we all have souls.

I believe that there is one great power, a divine source.  Some people call him Yaweh, some God, some Allah, some Brahma, some cosmos, some the oversoul.

I believe that there are many paths to this deity, and that each of us takes the path that feels 'right' to us.

I believe in reincarnation, that we have been here before.  Some of us have old souls and are on our last tour of this reality.  Some are new souls and have many reincarnations to go before they learn what they're supposed to learn.  The purpose of reincarnation is to learn about life and our fellow man...and I  believe that when we're experienced enough and we die we go to be a part of the cosmos or the oversoul.

I believe that we are all destined to have one great love in our lives, a soulmate if you will. Some of us are lucky and recognize our soulmate and get to spend the rest of our lives with them. Some of us fail to recognize this love and let it go....and then spend the rest of their lives chasing after said soulmate.

I believe that when we die, we are reunited with our soulmate, and if we are lucky enought to be reincarnated we will be destined to meet our great love again in our new life.

I believe that there are no coincidences.  It's just the universe's way of dropping little hints....and if we don't listen to those hints, the universe will sometimes send us messages we cannot ignore.

That's what I believe.  Let the mud slinging and the questions begin.

I'm not saying what you believe is wrong, you can believe whatever you want. The thing that always seemed crazy to me about reincarnation is how everyone who believes in reincarnation all think they were someone famous in their past life. They were all Cleopatra or Alexander the Great. You never hear someone say they were joe blow who scrubbed toilets in their past life.

I do believe that there are no coincidences.

My beliefs are pretty similar to yours K. I do tend to believe in old souls. I don't believe you can remember any "past lives" like Shirley Maclaine claims. Maybe reincarnation is the real source of "natural born talent".

I don't bank on any kind of afterlife. I try to make the most of the here and now and help others do the same.

While my beliefs are similar to yours (as we've discussed in the past), I believe we have more than one soul mate. I think the term 'kindred spirits' probably fits better to my way of thinking. Some of these kindred spirits we meet, recognise and move on. Others become part of our lives, either as friends, lovers or even as our children.

I also believe similar to what you believe and I believe that people's lives cross paths for a reason and we shouldnt ignore that..even when it is people from other sides of the globe.

I know, and it pisses me off because it makes people who truly DO believe in reincarnation look silly.  I don't believe that you can remember your past lives.

I don't believe that either, and like you, I believe that our past lives are the reason for us having natural talents.

I'm not going to do things here on earth to ensure my ticket to heaven.  I'm doing what I do because of the here and now and because it's the right thing to do.

Man, now I've got to go change my clothes again!

I believe that the people we meet and become friends with are kindred spirits, and I also believe that we're friends with them for a reason.  Maybe we're supposed to learn something from them, maybe we're supposed to teach them....the reasons aren't always clear, but I'm sure that we're friends with people for a reason.

I believe that people's lives cross paths for a reason and we shouldnt ignore that..even when it is people from other sides of the globe

Exactly. Nice to see you, btw. Where have you been?

I believe that it's wise for me not to state my beliefs in too much detail because in my experience, most people simply can't be bothered to consider possibilities other than what their own narrow belief system defines as 'good and correct.'

That being said..as a Chaote, I do embrace a single meta-belief that belief is a tool for achieving effects; it is not an end in itself

I've been thinking about writing something like this for a while.  I know how some of the more....umm......radical and fundamental christians react to other people's beliefs if they differ from their own, but right now, Sabrina, I don't give a fuck.  Let them say what they will....these are MY beliefs, things that I have experienced for myself to be true, and I really don't care what other people say.

I think that you're doing the right thing by keeping your trap shut about what you believe; you have to have an open mind to understand what your faith is all about.  Even I struggled with it when I first started reading the book you recommended!

Hell is the condition of having no alternatives

BINGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  That's part of the reason I rejected christianity.  I was tired of being told I wasn't following god's word when I spoke about my beliefs - there simply wasn't any leaway, you know?  Everything was so rigid and pre-set, there wasn't any room for personal expression.  I ended up hating it, and as soon as I dropped out that hate and pain went away.  I did get a lot of guilt laid on me by members of the church, though.  Every time they saw me they quoted scripture at me, and a few of them wouldn't speak to me at all after I had left the church.

Of course, you can apply that thought to may other situations, not just the church.

The roads of excess may yet lead to the place of wisdom, and many indeterminate things can happen on the way to thermodynamic equilibrium. It is vain to seek solid ground on which to stand. Solidity is an illusion, as is the foot which stands on it, and the self which thinks it owns either is the most transparent illusion of all.

Excess DOES lead to wisdom.  It's all about the experience, I think.  That's where wisdom comes from.

Permanence is a falsehood.  Everything changes, period.

Are the number of re-incarnations set, or is it determined on what you do with your life?  The reason I ask is that sounds like a Hundu concept (if it is not set).

And I know I was reincarnated.  My previous life was a scullery maid in the court of Queen Elizabeth.

Im thinking that beliefs change with time and life experiences and to be fluid around that is an actual evolving experience which help to mold beliefs.

I think that made sense?

I think it did, to me anyway!

Dharma believe it or not we have some of the same beliefs. Except that I do believe in coincidences. I won't go into details but let me just say that there are some things in life that we are each destined for and sometimes our life journeys lead us to that path.

Maso, I do agree with your kindred spirit views, most definately!

Whip I'm going to have to take lessons from you. Although I'm a Christian and nothing is going to change my faith and beliefs, I am interested in learning more about yours.

It's ridiculous that some people refuse to see beyond their nose when it comes to their beliefs. I won't go into it anymore lest I start preaching and I don't preach!LOL!

Wisdom is not in knowing everything about something. Wisdom is using the knowlege you have aquired and applying it. Excess may lead to knowlege and experience in some areas, but there is so much more that can be learned that does not come from excess.
