Project biggest baddest baby blanket is almost complete!
I finished the knitting part of it last week, and yesterday I pinned and stitched the knitted part to the fabric backing. It about made me cry with frustration - the knitted front part is stretchy and the fabric back part isn't, so trying to pin them together without stretching the front out of shape and creating puckers in the back was a bit of a headache. But, I did it. I also got three of the four sides stitched together last night. I had to hand stitch them; I don't have a sewing machine and even if I did I wouldn't have been comfortable using it. I'd have been afraid that the tension would have messed up the entire thing and I'd have been left with an unsalvageable blanket and less than 5 weeks to make another one!
All I have left to do is embroider ' Ashley Grace' in the corner of the backing, sew the open side closed, and then use a running stitch and some French knots to quilt the back to the front. I'm debating whether to sew simply 'Ashley Grace' or 'Ashley Grace Wardell'. Right now, I'm thinking that 'Ashley Grace' is the way to go, but I'm going to write both of them out and see how they look before I make a decision. The embroidery I'll do this evening, and the rest of it will get done over the weekend. Then all I'll have left to do is wrap it up (together with the little outfit Dave and I got for her) and send it off to Michigan!
I started Isabella's (Tex's little girl) baby blanket this week, and it's growing nicely. Once I get Ashley's completed I'll be able to think about color's to use for AngelaMarie's little girl's blanket...and I'll also be thinking about color schemes for Just John's babies (seeing as right now he's having 4 I'd better think about starting them pretty soon!).
All these people having babies is making me broody! It's a good thing I can't have any more, or else I'd be seriously considering getting pregnant - and Dave would be seriously telling me 'no way!!!!!'
