..and even I was surprised.
I went to the commissary today. I know I said I was going to go tomorrow, but I decided that today was just as good. I bought enough food to last us 2 weeks...until the 15th of the month, the next time my husband gets paid. I made a menu plan, generated a list from the menu plan, and off I went.
I spent $112.63 on edible stuff. That included a couple of bags of chips, some snack crackers, granola bars, yoghurt, a ton of fresh fruit and vegetables...even sodas (not name brand, but who cares?). We got a lot of food, even the cashier commented on how much we got for the amount of money we spent. I didn't buy any TV dinners or frozen pizzas, and I didn't buy any Chef Boyardee canned junk....I did get some canned soups to make other stuff with, but that was about it.
So, I spent a little over $110 for a 2 week food supply for a family of 4. Multiply that by 2 = $220 for a month, give or take a couple of bucks, or if you want to do it weekly..it works out to be $55 a week for a family of 4, or $13.75 per person, per week, and we're all going to be eating good. No-one's going to be going hungry in this house, that's for sure.
