I may have the opportunity to see me some Dick on Tuesday.

Dick as in Cheney.  As in the Vice President.  He's coming here to address us military folks.  What he's going to talk about, I do not know.  But, I do know that my husband was told to notify his First Sgt before 8am Monday so that they can hang on to a ticket for me to be in the crowd that the VP will give his speech to.

Security is going to be a nightmare, and there's going to be a lot of hanging around, waiting.  But, it isn't everyday that the VP or the Prez himself come to town to talk to us, so I'm going to try and bear that in mind when the Secret Service dudes are getting their knickers in a twist over security and crowd control issues.  (By the way, did I ever tell you how to tell where the free food is at any Presidential or VP visit?  Just look for the gaggle of Secret Service guys - they're the ones wearing the suit jackets that are three sizes too big for them).

I'm taking my ID, my phone, my camera (yes, they let you have cameras.  Matter of fact, when the Prez came to Ellsworth in '03, he was handing the Secret Service guys people's camera's and was posing for mug shots with folks), a book, some water and a couple of granola bars, and I'm going to try and get as close to the front  as I can.  Will I be cheering?  Probably.  Not because I particularly like Cheney or even this current administration, but because it's the kind of event where everyone's just so excited about seeing a dignitary that everything else fades into the background.

I might get to see Dick, y'all!  How cool is that?!?!

No quick movements. Either security will kill you or you'll startle and kill him. They should know better to let him out of his "undisclosed locations". It's just uncomfortable for everyone.

I'll get a chance to see a Donald...as in Rumsfield. He's speaking at my son's Military college in May. There will be SS there as well and was told to expect it. My son will be commissioned as a Lt. that day as well so it will be extra special.

They tried to get the Prez but I guess he was busy that day!!

My other son graduated last May and I got to see a Sean.....as in Hannity up close. We had very good seats.

My first son's (the one that already graduated) girlfriend's dad was a bodyguard for Rumsfield. He was pretty nervous to meet this Dad at first but now loves him. I wonder if the Donald will be invited to my son's wedding if he decides to marry this girl?

I hope he doesn't appear with a shotgun!

I've never seen, nor do I have any wish to see Rummy.

Meh.  He's just a TV personality.  I'm going to see the man who, should something happen to Bushie, will step up and be the Prez.

I hope he doesn't appear with a shotgun!

I had thought about mentioning how I wished I still had the Kevlar vest I used to wear on patrol, but I couldn't find a way to work it in.
