If you were a shoe, what kind of shoe would you be?  If you could be any shoe at all, what kind of shoe would you LIKE to be?

I think that I'd be a Birkenstock clog.  Sturdy, comfortable, practical, functional....kind of hippie-ish, a little funky....but not too much.

Now if I could be ANY shoe....I'd have to be a red stiletto.  Pointy toes, sexy as all get out (which is pretty dang sexy, lemme tell ya)...a real siren super-hot-momma kinda shoe.

So...what are YOU?

I'm slippers or sandals or flipflops. they're not shoes but that's WHY i like them. I cant stand having my toes not breathing. So i go for the easy in easy out, comfortable style.

Dharma,

Ahem...I feel that you both ought to know that I'm a total sucker for a man in a pair of Chucks. There, I said it, and now you both know. I don't know why.

There must be an indie-chick in you just dying to get out. I think this would explain why you love men in Chucks. And I aint complaining...

I live in sandals and flip-flops most of the year round.  I'll wear my Earth Shoes with socks when it gets cool, and it;s only when it gets wet or I'm in danger of frostbite that I'll go for something with a closed toe.

There is, and I'm in the process of letting her out.  I have been for a few years.....that'd explain why I got all the tatts and the piercings and got all "weird" (other people's words, not mine).  Actually, you reminded me of how much I liked Converse and how long it's been since I owned some...so I'm officially searching for the ideal pair now.

And I aint complaining...

Cool...neither am I!

I saw in I,Robot that Will Smith had a pair of limited edition black leather All Stars. Now there is something to get me drooling... I'm trying to find a distributor here in Australia but if I can't, I'm prepared to pay to have them imported. Good luck with your search.

eBay!  That's where I am right now.....and I just placed a bid on a brand new pair of pink (if you can believe that) All Stars.  Very, very yummy.

Have you tried the Converse website yet?  All kinds of groovy stuff on there....

Dharma, sorry it has taken so long to reply. The time zone differences can be a pain.

Thanks for the information. I got a copy of the Rolling Stone Yearbook yesterday afternoon and lo, and behold, there is a full page ad for new release Converse leather All Stars and One Stars, including all the Australian distributors. I'm going to call one of them today and find out if there are any local stores I can order a pair through.

As for the pink All Stars, I can believe it. I have recently seen Misfits (punk legends, in case you don't know) sneakers in black with pink skulls all over them and a pink pair with black skulls all over them. Very cool and, to quote you, yummy. Apparently, in punk circles, pink is the 'new' red, although I find all this 'old' vs. 'new' stuff a bit tedious. Red is red and pink is pink as far as I'm concerned.

Wow, I've just had a quick look at the Converse website. I'm ordering a pair of the black with red trim high tops for sure. Thanks heaps.

Cheers,

Maso

Slippers. I have to go with slippers...is that qualify as a shoe? Next, I'd choose barefoot. [

Misfits (punk legends, in case you don't know)

Maso, sweetie......I should explain something.  I grew up in late 70's early to mid 80's England.  I've had 7 piercings all at one time, and I owned a pair of docs before the became 'cool'.  I know who the misfits are....but thanks for telling me anyway!

Dharma, sorry for pointing out the bleeding obvious to you. Most of the folks I talk to here are at least 10 years younger than I and I don't like to say something without explaining myself fully.

Like you, I was a Doc fan way before anyone thought they were cool. In fact, I still have my pair of cherry Docs I got in around about 20 years ago.

Cheers,

Well, I own a pair of steel-toed oxblood Doc Martens. I have had them for years. I am most comfortable in them. I feel empowered. I also like the strange stares I used to get from my husband's grandparents when I wore them with a skirt. One time, Zombie's grandfather actually asked Zombie if he needed to buy me some shoes. He actually thought that my Docs were some second hand trash that was all I had to wear. My favorite clothing has been a long flowing skirt and Doc Martens for about 15 years now. I love the dichotomy of the flowing feminine skirt and the power of the Doc.

If I could be any shoe I want....I would be the daisy flowered Doc Martens with steel toes and 12 holes. Unfortunately, they don't even sell those anymore.
