I think that I must be some kind of mutant.  I must have a deformed physique, it must be horribly abnormal.

I cannot find pants that fit.

I'm 5'1 3/4", and I weigh 120lbs.   I thought that I wore a size 5 petite.  Apparently that's not so anymore.  This afternoon I went shopping for pants for work. The first pair I tried on were a size 5 petite, only to find that the waist was too big and the bottoms flapped around my ankles like flags at half-mast.

So, I tried a 4 regular.  I couldn't get the zipper up comfortably and there was enough leg left at the end of my feet to have made another pair of pants.

I switched brands and tried a 6 petite (they only came in even sizes, ie 4, 6, 8 etc).  This time, the hips fit wonderfully, but I had a big gape at the back of the waist.  The legs were too long, they were almost as bad as the regular pair I had tried on previously.  I was going to try on a 4 petite, but figured that while the waist might fit, the hips would probably be too snug, and seeing as they didn't make a 'short petite' I'd have the same problems with the leg length.

So, I switched brands again, starting off with a 5 petite.  The hips fit, the waist fit, but the legs were much too short.  It looked like I was wearing too-long capri pants.  I went to a 5 regular, thinking that if the petite was too short the regular would be about right length-wise.  Yeah, right.  The hips were too tight, the waist was too big, and again, the legs were too long.

Just who decides what measurements equal what size?  And why is there such a variation in sizes between manufacturers?  Why is there such a huge leg length difference between petite and regular?  Doesn't anyone make clothes for real women anymore?  Normal, average women who have hips and butts and curves?

I ended up going to the kids department and getting a pair of age 14 pants.  The waist is a little higher than I'd like, but they fit everywhere else, so I can live with it. I guess I'm lucky that I can do that...what about all the glorious chickys that are a little heavier than I?  A little taller than I am? How do they buy clothes that fit them?  Is it just me?  Am I really abnormal?

*sighs* I never thought I'd say this, but....I detest clothes shopping.

Bah, they don't make clothes for any of us. I have a 34 inch inseam and wear a size 0. (Well at least I did before I was pregnant) Pant, dresses and anything else... Not going to fit.

I think if I won the lottery, I would have my clothes made or tailored!

I am with you on this one Dharma. To me the juniors sizes are just too trendy and low wasted. They make me look like I have a bucket butt. Not attractive. Then if you go to regular sizes you are left with "mom" jeans - double yuck. You just have to keep trying on every different brand and store until you find the one magical pair that fit and look decent. You have to kiss a lot of toads to find your perfect jeans. I am also short - even shorter than Dharma and I have little boobs but lots of junk in my trunk. It sucks to be me - can you say pear shaped? I can't even find a shirt that fits. If I try petites they feel too short to me. Not like my belly is showing or anything they just seem weird to me. Regular shirts and the sleeves are too long which is okay if I can roll them up but I can't wear the pretty bell sleeves.

Dharma--I'm exactly like you 5`2 on a lucky day and right around 120 these days...and I totally feel your pain!!! I can't ever find a brand that fits. The closest I've come to are the pants at the gap...I usually get a size 8 ankle..but since you usually wear a 5 p, you might want to try a 4 ankle or a 6 ankle.
