I'm mean, and my kid hates me.

Why, I hear you ask? Am I forcing him to get shots? Am I making him shave his head? Pulling his teeth out with pliers? Could I be taking all his toys and games away on a whim because I feel like it?

None of the above.

I'm making him put his socks and shoes on and go to school.

Yes, I the meanest mom in the whole world.

I am nowhere near being able to join the "hated daddys club" yet (whew!), but I do have a friend with a six-year-old girl and a two-year-old boy. The boy is still in the 2-to-3-word sentences phase, but apparently one of the things he will do (and oh, I wish you could hear the inflections on this!) when his daddy does something "bad" is, he'll go to his mom crying "Mommy, Mommy Mommy!!" all anxious and needy, then point to his dad and say "... Daddy." in a sad, accusatory tone.

Wow, you would knit something for my bambino if I have one?! Well I guess that settles it, I'll just have to have one more Seriously, I can't get over what a generous, caring person you are. My kids only have one auntie so having you as a cyber-auntie would be way cool!

Of course I would! I'll even knit hats and stuff for your boys now if you/they want. I'm dying to knit a pink 'umbilical cord' hat (I did a blue one for Gideon's boy) and a matching pink blanket though......
